worthwhile upgrade?........

If you are happy to game at 1024x768, dont worry many of us still do !, then a 8800gt will do you fine for a good year imo. Far Cry2 for example doesnt need a top end PC to be playable at your Res. Its only after that and if you like the look of newer demanding games that will put strain on your whole PC, not just the vid card.

RE: the 8800GTXs, they are good cards but if they are the same price range of a new 4850 , then the later is the best buy imo. At the Res you game in, you wont really notice any differance at all from a 8800gt-8800gtx-4850. So just for the best bang for buck you can afford.
 
4850 is the card you're looking for.

If you have a budget of £100 then that is agonizingly too close to the 4850 territory to not cough up the extra £11 odds + delivery. It's faster than the GT and that will help the newer games you're talking about.
