Would you accept a new car with issues?

Agree with comments on saying reject the car totally.

If it were me, i would be looking at a different make / model due to reliability etc.

If that's the level of quality control over things you can see on a brand new car, I'd be seriously concerned about the things you can't.

Yep, get that - but what do we drive for the next couple of months whilst they build the car?

Can you not insist on the current car as a courtesy car for a couple months?

Also, is there anything unique about the car you have, options or colours? I know a Fiesta ST isn't the same but two out the last three I have had they managed to get pre-built, unregistered cars straight out of Ford stock. You are more limited with options and colours but it might be a possibility.

You signed for it before or after you'd seen the defects?

Before

My feelings exactly.

I spoke to the retailer last night and told them I want a new car. I'll be calling JLR up this morning once they open to tell them the same.

Indeed. Lesson well and truly learned.

JLR were really good with my old MD when his RRS had issue on delivery and compensated financially rather than giving a new vehicle, I'd push for that angle plus the fixes required, and a written guarantee that any issue stemming from it found later down the line are fixed FOC

Good to hear! Any idea what level/kind of compensation was given?

I'm sorry I don't know exact numbers, but it was almost a £100k vehicle and he was happy with the outcome. The last thing they want to do is give you a refund or have to supply a new vehicle, so I'd be very quick to push JLR HQ if the dealer isn't helping you as you expect.

sounds like a friday afternoon car to me, reject it and for the money your paying i'd expect perfection 10/10 and not the 1/10 you appear to have

Buy another car? Rent a car?

Don't spout such logic :p

I have images of Basher stuck by the side of the road walking around in circles trying to contemplate the next move :D

I'd be pushing for rejection, especially after they've attempted repair of the paintwork, as I doubt they'll have a premium body shop on it. If the repairs are of excellent standard then possibly keep the car if you get a significant financial incentive.

But either way, being a new JLR car it's going to tank in value, so the sweeteners would have to be extensive!
