Would you be bothered by a UK Porn block?

Although I hate porn (and strip clubs) with a passion, I'm against blocking it because it's simply a lifestyle choice. We as adults aged 16 or 18 should be free to make lifestyle choices such as smoking, alcohol, joining the Army, having a driver's license, getting married, playing the lottery and watching 18-rated films (and thus porn) along with other choices that require you to be 16 or 18.

I think that's the right attitude. Create a user name, then there would be a governing body that can issue you with a PIN based on your user name, so that it is tied to you only. The governing body as a 3rd party would ask for a scan of your passport or any other type of ID, and by doing that, any potentially dodgy porn or gambling sites wouldn't have access to any of your personal details.
l'm sure having your ID linked to your personal pr0n preferences won't have any negative consequences or be taken advantage of by individuals with nefarious intent.

Thumbing through the underwear section when your mum thought you were looking for a Christmas present. ;)

When this becomes law you'll all be in the newsagents looking at the top shelf selection hoping nobody would see you. :p
It brings back many embarrassing memories, the obvious evidence sat wrinkled on the bookshelf under the stairs, thankfully my parents never said anything about it!

another reason why all adult content would be better. few people would be embarrassed signing up for adult internet access if it included bet Fred or beer 52 subs.
Abbywinters access would be the cherry on the cake ;)

I don’t have any solutions, but I don’t think the harms of pornography are are not as obvious as alcohol (ill physical health) or gambling (loss of money). It’s a subtle harm. There’s also no visible messaging delivered with porn that suggests it’s addictive - it’s often privately enjoyed. So there’s not really even the sort of sort “be gamble aware” type messaging either.

So yes, personal responsibly and choice are important, but I do think some regulation is a good idea.

More freedoms taken away under the guise of safety, shame they've not done nothing about drugs, alcohol, gambling all the knife crime......
They go for the low hanging fruit, you don't want the block you'll get branded as a perv  . Wonder what they think would happen to any UK porn stars? I just think censorship on the whole is a way to get close to the China way of things.
