Would you be bothered by a UK Porn block?

Just more government overreaching, I'm sure the think tank has picked up a pretty penny or ten for bringing it up every so often and for dragging this out.

In my honest opinion porn is far too accessible, we now have a generation of young lads who grew up with 1-click-away porn and now they all have erectile dysfunction and a ridiculous expectation of what a woman should look and perform like in bed.

My first experiences with women and sexual stuff were all first-hand, now there are eleven year olds, twelve year olds, etc watching the most insane bodily modified women online doing extreme performances and having this as their baseline 'normal'. Young men today are screwed, and not in the right way.

It's not just that, they have forgotten how to actually talk to women... it's not a coincidence that male virginity among age brackets is increasingly on the rise...

I think that is more due to online dating apps where women have the pick of a much larger dating pool and will naturally pick the "top" guys. So average guys have a harder time getting to meet women.

That's just lads not putting an effort in.

I mean, every time I go to the local, all the lads are absolute mingers, they don't do the basics such as proper clothing fits, cutting their nails, brushing their teeth or keeping clean shaven, etc etc etc.... all basic stuff your mam would constantly tell you to do as a kid!
Honestly it's not hard to be above average. I am seeing lads half my age look twice as old because their idea of exercise is swinging a pint to their gob and lobbing fresh toothpaste into the bin.

Hit the nail on the head there.

I agree its way too accessible gone are the days that unless one found a stash as people posted in this thread  or some of the most risque things you would see would be the underwear section in the catalogs or the erotic softcore that used to be on Channel 5.;)

Porn also gives ridiculous expectations of what men should look and perform also. Years ago I was told about how a friend was casually seeing a woman she was just joking as she played it btw and assumed all people of my friends colour (and his friends had similar experiences) had a British Broadcasting Corporation and it wasnt the first female or the last to say it to him or his other friends.

My earlier post in this thread I would almost say for certain that people very young start to get exposed to this type and other types of content via social media/messaging services which do not fall under these rules.

Male virginity among age brackets is increasingly on the rise mainly due to what @Hades posted as I've seen posted that women find 80% of men are below average.

We just had a porn stash behind a loose stone in a wall ,very mild content ,answer i wouldn't be bothered in the slightest ,i can just put my disco dave shirt on and score in Newquay who needs porn

I guess for young blokes, they're probably afraid to talk to women in case someone record's it and tries to frame it as sexual assault ir something. Some of the posts I've seen on reddit (for tinder) of a woman's requirement for men are hilarious (but obviously not sure if they're true or not).

The entire Online Safety Bill is a typically ill-conceived mess being implemented by people who just have no understanding of the internet. Trying to regulate the internet is like trying to put the worms back in the tin.
And when will the government learn that regulation is often much better than an outright ban? People below verification age will find a way round the ban and find themselves on dodgy sites. Far better in my humble opinion to hit the popular sites with regulation to ensure they present a more balanced picture of life? By that I mean that there is much complaint at the moment that porn is not representative of good relationships and kids who are learning from these sites are learning stuff that they don't realise is just fantasy.

Difficult one. Porn I believe to be genuinely harmful (not to mention the gore snuff videos etc).

However censorship is just not the answer, it should be responsible parenting. I think a ban on phones at school would be a good idea.

P.s I never understood as well how the large sites stay afloat? Google struggles with YouTube which has access to a world of advertising and these sites stream huge quantities. Seems weird.

I think it is harmful because many kids don't realise that it is fantasy and that there is a huge difference between fantasy and reality. There are a ton of cases of young people acting out what they have seen in porn films, and it leading to the breakup of relationships. Because, whether we like it or not, it has an educational element to it, porn needs to be regulated imo. I do agree that responsible parenting would be a great idea but unfortunately education and parenting tends to just ignore this subject altogether. To my mind schools should teach life as well as classic education. I am not sure how to get the parents to accept some responsibility though.
Porn sites stay afloat because relatively small numbers of people are prepared to throw money at porn. An top rated pornstar can earn almost as much from the internet as a top youtuber, so you are currently talking in terms of about £50m a year.

I think the issue of adult sites is that the education about it is stuck in the 1980's.

Prior-2000 a person had to seek adult material out. The search for free porn usually resulted in a playboy style picture sites.

Post-2000 porn is everywhere. I'm on twitter and regularly get 2+ accounts of women that purely post pictures of themselves. I suspect its spam accounts.

I think having a social education class that is 75% about relationships and 25% about adult material talk is the way to go.

The damaging part of porn is the introduction of it with no context. It would be interesting what happens in other european countries compared to ours, as some have more liberal attitudes when it comes to having a conversation about it.

porn block specifically not a fan of.... but a complete and total adult content block (so all booze and gambling and adult sites and adverts blocked unless a pin is entered I would support.

this could be added at your account level such that you could turn it off so as not to be hassled or turn it on.

what we have now does not really work. for instance (for science) I tried to get around it on my mobile account which I have never bothered to uncheck the adult content block, and whilst I can't get on the likes of pornhub etc sites... image search has no such problem.

so singling out porn..... no dice from me but complete adult block then sure.

Although I hate porn (and strip clubs) with a passion, I'm against blocking it because it's simply a lifestyle choice. We as adults aged 16 or 18 should be free to make lifestyle choices such as smoking, alcohol, joining the Army, having a driver's license, getting married, playing the lottery and watching 18-rated films (and thus porn) along with other choices that require you to be 16 or 18.

I think that's the right attitude. Create a user name, then there would be a governing body that can issue you with a PIN based on your user name, so that it is tied to you only. The governing body as a 3rd party would ask for a scan of your passport or any other type of ID, and by doing that, any potentially dodgy porn or gambling sites wouldn't have access to any of your personal details.
