Would you consider this weird/strange?

Im the same. Im about to turn 16 but my hobbies include warhammer 40k and airsoft as well as computers ofc. Everyone takes the mick at school but in the end who the hell are they to tell me what to do with my life. I also find listening to inspirational band helps a fair bit.

In the end its your life so just do what you want (within the law :P)

Do what you want. Doing something creative is definitely better than going out and getting smashed every week. I definitely wouldn't recommend going out and drinking every week though. However, going out and getting drunk can be pretty fun, if with mates and possibly a few females. ;) Just out of interest have you been drunk before? :p

I think like me Centurion, we are both perhaps a bit too mature for our age.

Not neccessarily a bad thing, but I'm guessing you're the sort of guy who doen't like the whole lets go out on the lash (Neither am I)

The people on here that say he shouldn't be listening to UB40 at his age, well he can listen to whatever he likes.

At least he is not listening to the trash that comes out every week now.

I like all genres of music (apart from dubstep and screamo) I enjoy stuff like Pink Floyd and dance/club stuff like eric prydz and heavier music like The Prodigy, I say the bigger the taste in music a person has, the more cultures they have experience or witnessed.

Yeah I agree, grr can someone please nuke Heart fm from out of space please along with all the other mainstream trash.
Also I swear heart fm/total fm is a total fraud, they have this impossible question going at the moment. The answers to all the surveys can be easily found with a bit of google fu, at least if you are flipping going to do this **** at least use your own surveys.
If you do put the effort in you will do well, you cannot just stroll into a good university.

I've given up on making any friends at my new school, still get on with people but just not bothering anymore outside of lesson.

Concentrating on getting the grades and going to University, hopefully things will be better there.

If anything its been a bit of a life lesson, that not everything will go smoothly in life, and I have to deal with awkward people and I won't always integrate into some crowds.

Remind them of this.

"Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one." - Bill Gates

btw, I don't mean this in a bad way! I prefer to go out occasionally although I find it more interesting staying in researching topics of interest, reading, watching TED talks - I feel like I gain a lot more from deep thought than just going out, getting drunk, and pretending to like people.

By all means chime in Mr Hickey, you're more than qualified on that particular subject now. :D

I remember getting the email last year asking for junior doctors to participate in this show. All of us instantly thought, "Hell no. No junior doctor with a modicum of sanity would volunteer for this". Except for these guys, obviously.

I shouldn't bash it really, it's a fair portrayal of day to day work, stresses and struggles, (some of them come across rather arrogant sometimes- we're not all like that, honestly) but I don't think broadcasting the obvious inexperience of newly qualified doctors is particularly reassuring to the general public, in addition to the sensationalist "Your Life In Their Hands" sub-title...

Anyway, favourite scene so far from the first episode, cut to the 'quite large' doctor chilling out at home, enjoying a tub of Ben & Jerrys.

I definitely did lol at that segue. I understand what you're saying about the title, etc. as unfortunately the general public have an unnerving ability to show just how stupid they are at times. However, it would be unfair to suggest that many people don't take it with the pinch of salt it deserves; it is certainly typical of the targeted production of young-adults for that channel as of late.

Personally - the title and that particular wine-swishing pretentious sod aside - I've found it very interesting in terms of day-to-day work and how individuals are dealing with the new found responsibility. I think it would be more fair to all concerned if it was a little more uncompromising in terms of the reality of the profession as at the moment it feels like a high-brow production of an MTV show.

Incidently, how did you fund your education through five years? Is it different to the traditional student loan or are there other options available?

Yes, I'm aware of the sensationalisation that the show puts on the lives of doctors. What really makes me laugh though is how one of the blonde ones looks like a pig (it's the nose) :p

i have maybe 3 people that are still my friends from school (8 years on). sure i still know and see loads of people from school but i wouldnt wonna hang out with them for more than a few hours.

i stop going to clubs when i was about 20 (i go to one once every couple of months now i suppose). mainly cause they dont play the music i want to hear. i hate RnB with a passion which is all they seem to play.

to the OP if you have found a person who has something interesting to say id stick with them. im yet to find a person who always has something interesting to say. anyone who is good value for your time is worth hangin onto.

it is worth making the effort to go out with your mates now and again. i try to pop in the pub for a couple every friday/fortnight just to say hello.
