Would you consider dropping £500 on the new PS4 OR Xbox and give up on PC gaming. I'm not suggesting throwing your PC in the bin, just not playing games on it.

Edited OP to be a little clearer.

No, I much prefer the flexibility a PC affords me, along with superior graphics/fps (which you pay for obviously) I also enjoy building and maintaining my PC.

Makes no sense, is it theoretically 500 or 1000? I've considered selling up and going console a lot recently even before my son was born but even more so now i have less time but mostly because parts are getting too expensive and games are stagnant

You're asking an enthusiast forum of PC gamers and modders if they would give up their PC's for a console??

Yes. I'm considering it. PC gaming isn't what it used to be. Hacking, sloppy drivers, buggy releases, ill-optimized games.

I could barely run Far Cry Primal at a stable 60 FPS on a £3,000 PC. That **** should not be happening. Developers have gotten lazy due to the much smaller market.

Don't agree with you there mate......PC gaming has got a lot better and getting far more popular; while hacking, sloppy drivers?, bugs etc. do exist, they are hardly that bad, that its worth swapping to an inferior platform, where you can enjoy those same titles at a lower resolution and 30 fps?

If I could sit at a desk, use a mouse and keyboard and enjoy high frame rates and GSYNC at higher resolutions than 1080p, and have control over my FOV, I'd consider it. Otherwise no.

I'm talking about the new iteration of the consoles. If they are as powerful as they claim, I would be more than happy to play a console game at 1080p60.

New iteration.....just like every other iteration will be "powerful" for a short period of time.....still behind the PC curve and while being a static platform slowly become behind the times as the years go by.

Not saying that consoles are a bad thing...they serve their purpose, but I think the reason why people play on PC, is that they like the cutting edge...something no console will ever provide.

There used to be a big distinction, but these days a gaming pc is pretty much an uber console that plays console ports. Obviously there's the indie stuff and the odd exclusive. Mouse and keyboard is the big selling point for me.

Nope.

Other than a few XO exclusives, I'm done completely with consoles for this generation, sold my PS4 last month. My focus is on PC gaming and VR right now.

Really???? Who would give up PC gaming for consoles? The one person who voted yes obviously misclicked it or has brain damage.

I wouldn't.

There are far too many good, fun games on the PC that I play and I have never really got on with any of the modern console controllers due to the types of games I like to play and the size of my hands.

I have a 360 controller for the PC, but it rarely gets used and when it does it's for short bursts (things like the "shoot the meteor" bit in Deadspace).
Part of that is comfort, part of it is accuracy/speed (fps games played with the controller just don't work for me), and part of it is the flexibility of the PC control options (100+ keys and the ability to choose virtually any layout that works for you, let alone specialist controllers such as the G13).

It was OP :D

I think the question needs more context. For me, no way am I thinking about dropping £1k on consoles when I get all I need or want from my, much cheaper, PC.

But maybe I would consider it in alternative, outlined, circumstances.

Hell to the no! #pcmasterrace forever :p There's just too much variety on PCs to ever turn my back on it as a gaming platform - Plus the indie scene is incredible.
