No - some of the genres I love are currently unfeasible on console. Add to that better mod support, more variety and depth in game types, a thriving indie scene and potentially better visuals, and I see no compelling reason to give up PC gaming.

If I could use a mouse and keyboard on a console I would consider changing.

Apart from football and racing games I just cannot play any of the FPS games using the controller.

I like the idea of a box which takes up little room, and not having to worry about new releases not playing at decent res and fps but the only games I really enjoy are FPS which is currently a no go for me on a console!

I'd consider it, yes, but it would need a very persuasive argument to make me do it.;)

Bought a PS4 a couple of years ago because, well, PS4.

Spent most of my time walking past it on the way to PC to play games.

Sold PS4.

Bought Steam box and controller.

Sit on sofa, play PC games. Consoles are redundant.

Another no from me. A good reason is lack of good exclusives this gen. I have an Xbox One, my brother a PS4. I've enjoyed about 2 exclusive games this gen, the main one being Forza Horizon 2. My brother has enjoyed The Last Of Us...and that was a remaster. Aside from that I couldn't name one excusive that looks anything above average except Bloodborne on PS4.

I only switched to PC about 3 years ago. I don't regret it one bit.

No, not a chance. Quite aside from image quality and framerate concerns, consoles simply can't compete with PC on the sheer breadth and depth of titles available, especially once you factor emulation into things too. Consoles have their exclusives, but the current ones have so few that they're not even worth the current price IMO.

I voted no.

Mainly because I sim race and consoles don't have the same level of sim hardware that's available to PC gamers.

But I'm happy to play console and PC games if I can afford to do both. If I couldn't then I'd be sticking with PC games.

No obviously. The only reason to get them is for the one or 2 good exclusives they have, and no way to justify loosing the multitude of things the PC has just for that.

Also what much smaller market would you be taking about? you should probably take a look at the figures.

PC gaming is not as fun as it once was.

Its now 100% cash cow for everything there are very few games out there which still have the love of the devs to keep it going.

Tempted to go console but then it cant do half of what my PC with some clunky interface... looking at you PS3

Can the exact same not be said for consoles. Gaming in general is pretty stale, currently it's only Virtual Reality keeping me interested.

Buy a Steam Link and get the best of both worlds. Those poorly optimised games will still fly by on a big TV at 1080p60.

I would consider ditching my PC for a console, as soon as a console comes out which:

- Is backwards compatible with all games released on the same platform for the last ~20 years
- Can be played either plugged into a TV with a controller, or at a desk with M&KB
- Supports 21:9 and multiple monitors
- Allows easy installation of 3rd party (non official) hardware and software
- Is easy to upgrade/replace faulty individual components
- Can be used for software development and day-to-day home-office tasks (e.g. word processing, printing documents etc.)

Being realistic, other than initial installation/setup, I can't see any benefit which consoles have over PCs other than price - which is becoming less of a factor with every generation of console, and is also quickly wiped out when you consider the difference in price of games over the life of the system.

What are you even asking?

Is it £500 or £1000 and what benefits are you proposing would be on the consoles instead of a owning a PC?
