Would you go crazy on computer stuff if you won the lottery?

Custom built rig from the ground up, build the case around the watercooling around the components.

This thread makes me laugh.... if you won a considerable amount on the Jackpot..... few million id be thinking abit more long term....... Investment, perhaps in OcUK

I could do a lot with that money PC wise. :) If I had that kind of money 10k on a pc would be like pocket change really.

I would buy 5 of these awsome speakers, there about £600 per pair. But I think I will deffo change my fronts with these speakers in the next 2yrs anyway:D

If I was a millionaire, I'd probably play less PC games. Take more holidays, trek round the globe, etc.

I think upgrading my PC would probably by pretty low down on my list of things to do :p

I'd spend some money making it as silent as possible, however, because I have a fetish for silent PCs :p

Couldn't agree more. I'd buy a laptop, to take around the globe for photo and video purposes, and see the back of general computing and gaming for several years :D

If I won a fair few million (£5m for example), I would pay off my sister's mortgage, pay for my brother's house and pay for whatever else is left on my mum and dads. That wouldn't come to more than £500,000. I would buy myself my own detached 4 bedroom house. Nothing massive, just something £350,000'ish, which would get you a fairly nice one around here.

Turn one of the rooms into a purpose built, sound proofed studio. Have 2 x 30inch Dell screens, a fully blown i7 rig with 8gb-12gb of RAM. Full set of SSD drives. A fully blown studio sound interface, a Vestax VCM600, 2 x Pioneer CDJ-2000's, a Pioneer DJM800, a Novation SL61 MK2 Midi Keyboard, and some Mackie HR824 MK2's monitors. And a nice top of the range Macbook Pro to go with it :)

Probably cost about £10,000 all in for the studio set up, worth it though!

Oh, how I wish to win the lottery :(

I wouldn't, I spend around 10 hours a day working in front of a PC, if I won the lottery then computer hardware would be the last thing I'd be splashing out on. In fact, other than for ordering all the lovely new expensive non-computer related items I don't think I'd even turn a PC on.

No, i am EXTREMELY frugal with money and only spend on what i need.

If i won the lottery (£5-10 million) i would buy a cheap house (probably even a semi-detached one) for like £100-125 (I live with my mother right now as i'm only 17, nearly 18) and probably upgrade the graphics card of my current PC to a 5850/70 and that would be it. I wouldn't spend hundreds of thousands on Mansions, Cars, Bikes, Lavish holidays etc because quite frankly that doesn't interest me and to me it's very much a waste of money. My life would be exactly the same as it is now, no matter how much money i inherited.

Set me up with your estate agent! :D

Seriously, with £5m I would pay of mortgages/debts of immediate family, get myself a nice house (£1m ish), get a nice car for my dad, and go on a nice long holiday.

After giving a bit to a worthy charity I'd try and keep £2m in a high interest account to pay my "wages" for the rest of my life. The £1m left over would serve to pay for luxuries over the next 10 years. I might be tempted to start a small, sustainable business with it, just to give me something to invest my time in, and not become a total bum.

In terms of new PC? Of course I would, probably an awesome games room somewhere in the house.

If I won a descent amount I think I'd spend on a nice desk, big monitor, nice Silverstone case. I wouldn't throw money at things for the sake of it, but I'd buy good stuff.

That would all come after the important stuff though.

obviously important stuff First

then build a house from the ground up.

dedicated Server room in the house feeding Media throughout the whole house also running a SQL box + exchange + AD

three Internet connections 1 for gaming 1 for general browsing 1 business connection to run a number of websites from

cinema room complete with the works in terms of audio / video

Home office Similar to the one i have now only little bigger

Gaming room with 10 machines in each with top of the hardware

Gym with HTPC with audio routed throughout (controllable from android phone)

nice garage with 3-4 cars and a bike (nothing more expensive than £60,000)

budget roughly £1.5 - 2 million excluding land costs

***k that - I'd go absolutely nuts if I won 10 million!

Dedicated boys room inc.. 103" panasonic (ps3 and xbox) - 8 3k pcs for lan parties! A studio with a 5k mac pro and 2 30" dell monitors plus those speakers above!

A dedicated cinema room with a 30k projector and a naim or moon surround sound system!

Id get a fleet of cars - some normal ones such as a focus rs, evo and a nice land rover
Sports cars - Aston martin vanquish in black, lambo merchilago, audi R8 and a classic like an Aston martin db5 or something

Oh and an Atom car!!! Loads of fun!

Go around the world over a period of about 10 years - make sure I see everything!

Buy a sports hall so I can play badminton and 5 a side footy!

Loads on clothes and a nice watch around 10k - Got a thing for watches but would never buy an awesome one unless I had serious cash!

I like food - I'd go to all the top restaurants in the country, sampling the best cuisine and finest wines!

Oh how I'd love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A G5 mac?!?

Mac's don't use G5's anymore...

I doubt my computer habits would change much from what they're like atm, I already spend to much money on components...
