What made you buy an Astra in the first place.
They are horrible to drive.

Honestly, no research, no knowledge and the fact I needed something that weekend that fit my budget. My only previous driving experience was a 206 so the Volvo should be a nice upgrade :D

Id feel bad if I immediately sold a car I was given. Good idea but clear it with Dad first so he doesn't think you're an ungrateful **** :D

One of the best that has more than 4 cylinders and less than 6. :p

Though I suspect an Alfa 2.4 would sound better. :p

Ok good, that was my thinking too. Its not actually a trade, my Dad has ordered a new car and has offered to give me the Volvo, so i can sell the Astra.

Ah - now it makes sense!

Yes! You know the history...

As said the Volvo is a much better car and worth a lot more!

Surprised no one else has mentioned it, but at 3k/year you may end up with DPF issues.

How you drive it will have much more of an impact than the overall annual mileage. If you only ever do short journeys (as in a few miles across town or whatever) you may have problems. If you drive infrequently but do a decent length journey when you do drive then it'll be no bother.

Get it, sell both and buy a petrol Volvo or something else. A diesel at 3k per year is asking for trouble.

Its not really asking for trouble. Sure the financial benefit of the diesel wont be realized but on a 60k volvo its just going to be like any other car. As long as you do a few trips for dpf regeneration when necessary and maintain it properly.

Enjoy it :D
The D5 has quite a bit of pull certainty coming from your Astra.
I got mine as my commute went crazy but I have actually ended up really liking the car.
I mean I hate that I had to sell my S2k and would probably get another if I could but for a mile muncher the Volvo is hard to beat, especially the seats :D
