Would you swap ?

S60 D5 is a great car, Astra Petrol is a terrible car (sorry) so would be a no brainer for me.

D5 is one of the best sounding diesels on the road, but certainly not the best on economy mind :)

I used to get great mpg in my s60 d5. Could easily achieve 55mpg on a run and averaged high 40s overall. Better than I get in my current 'super economical' modern 4 pot 2.0 diesel!

I highly recommend the car and often wonder whether I should have even sold mine. Its extremely comfy, and was lovely to drive a along as you were cruising as opposed to throwing it around the back roads

We have an old (2003) V40, but I love it. So comfy, and whilst it isn't fast, it works well, is very practical (huge when you knock the seats down) and is built like a tank!

So in your situation, yes I'd swap! The s60 d5 is a big step up from the Astra IMO.

Volvo's are great cars as long as you're not looking for anything that is too sharp when it comes to driving dynamics.

Was this accurate over time or just looking at the realtime usage now and again.
Just wondering as my 2011 D5 V70 gets 40mpg average over the last 20,000 miles according to the computer.
That's 100 miles a day albeit in traffic on the M25

I was given a 2015 XC70 D5 as a rental last year and I ended up swapping it for something else - the fuel economy was hilariously low, on one particularly 40 mile dual carriageway run it was about 8mpg short of my more powerful, larger engined 530d

The engine did sound kinda cool, though.

I think mine was worse due to the amount I kept making it growl haha

Yeah that was my experience, I used to get about 45mpg but I did like giving it some beans to get that sound haha

Everyone knows what an S60 looks like but......

Just driven it home, very pleased with it, a big step up indeed from the astra. Just need to get used to a manual box again now ! He even gave me a full tank of fuel :D my dad picked up the new F-Pace today, very very nice indeed.

My 2012 D5 XC70 has averaged a smidge under 34mpg over 50k miles. It has terrible fuel economy in comparison to similar generation and output powerplants .
