As the title says really, If I high profile case deemed that the defendant was guilty of something along the lines of terrorism and they were sentenced to a public hanging (like in Iran the at the start of the week), would you go and see it?

Edit - I think I would.

Assuming there was indisputable proof they had done whatever they were being executed for, and it was a crime deserving it, such a multiple rapes, murders, terrorism etc then yes, I probably would.

obviously it wasn't like actually being there, but did people watch/actively not watch saddam's execution?

I'm not sure....I watched the Sadam hanging, not because i wanted to, more out of morbid curiosity.
Seen some of those Faces of death videos, but as they are just that, videos, it seems to take away the reality factor.

I'm not sure if seeing it happen in person would make it feel different or not, but as said above if there was definitive proof of horriffic crimes, then there would probably be a perverse sense of justice.

Yes,

In fact I'm going to see one now. Some bloke broadcast an offensive email at work and has been called in to explain his actions. Personally, I thought it was quite funny.

Of with his bits :)
