After the Samsung Evo bug I have read in various Forums including this one that people will be reluctant to buy another Samsung SSD.

I personally think that they acted quickly and solved a problem with the drives when they were noted of it. Thoughts guys?

I've never seen the 2 massive threads about it, just done a HDtune on mine, it's bad. Running the samsung restore software now.

I'll happily buy another EVO though. I have 2 OCZ SSD's still going strong :p

OCZ are the worst drives you can get. I wouldn't touch one with yours :o

They're the worst yes but neither have mine have ever let me down! My 60GB drive has over 17k hours on it with 1.5Tb of writes, and my 120GB drive with 11k hours and 3.4tb writes and 6tb reads, both on 100% health :p

I know OCZ had a lot of issues but it doesn't mean every last drive will die, same for Samsung, I'd happily buy another!

I rate Samsung #1 for ssd's and hdd's no one else comes close,I'd happily buy another

Id also recommend the crucial drives

Depends on whether or not there are any long term effects of the fix.

If performance is maintained at level achieved when the drive is new/after the fix - then I won't hesitate to buy Samsung again.

Time will tell though

Even with the bug, my Evo seemed to perform well (I wasn't aware of any problem).

Now the bug is fixed (for the time being), my Evo performs a tiny bit better (although that may be the placebo effect).

Seems to me that some people need a little more TLC.

:D

BTW. The only data loss I`ve experienced with SSDs is with an Intel and an OCZ (both owned by myself). The Intel failed after a couple of year's use. The OCZ was a cheap refurb supplied by OCUK with a short warranty. It failed shortly after the short warranty ended.

I`ve never had any data loss with a Samsung SSD, and I`ve installed a fair few of them. I used to use Crucial SSDs, which were reliable (but also required some firmware updates), until Samsung came along with cheaper and just as reliable products.

Meh

I own about 6 SSDs in total.

Crucial M4 and Samsung Evo 840 are two of them.

The M4 had a show stopper bug (the 5200 hour bug), the Evo 840 had a speed degradation bug. Both were fixed via firmware updates after they were pointed out.

I would happily buy a Crucial or Samsung SSD in the future and recommend them to others.
