WoW Legacy Server (if only)

To be fair the experience I have had so far it has been the same. If not very very similar. It is like a new game to me, all the old quests, unaltered maps (before cata) it has been fantastic. Only down side is I think as I have my Warlock on Nost PvE server I think I will lose it now.

If you have logged in on the Warlock, at any time, since the "relaunch", then you will keep the character. Only characters that were not transferred or have not been logged in since they transferred, have gone.

Sooo, what is everyone playing on? I'm going to jump on and hope it's not a lag fest like release. Again, not complaining, it's a free game! I'm beyond happy they are doing this.

I have rolled a new Cow Warrior called Zanezu. Its on the Zeth'Kur (iirc) server. One of the renamed Nost ones. Zero lag on my end. fair few players still in Mulgore levelling etc. All in all a great experience

I think there will be a lot of Nostalgia. Problem with Vanilla is it never catered for the Casual gamer. 12 years ago I had nothing to do in my spare time so it was easy to join a hardcore raiding guild. These days not so much. Back in Vanilla you had two choices. Be hardcore and join a raiding guild or be Hardcore and join a PVP guild. Apart from that you were nothing. Played Vanilla to death. Field Marshal hunter mixed with tier 3 gear. Was pretty much the best geared hunter on the server yet after 1 month of TBC being released all that hard work was for nothing. Pretty much gave up after that lol.

Obviously Vanilla did have some fantastic attributes. 40 man raids and no cross realm meant real communities were built up on the servers and forums. If you was at the top of your game you almost had celebrity status in Iron Forge and Battlegrounds

Vanilla was great, but like you said you had to go extreme either PVP or PVE.. Nothing in between.

We're on Anathema. We're being me and my fiance. Playing alliance.

Yesterday I did the arduous journey from the night elf starting area after doing my hunters lvl 10 quest for the pet tame and pet skills quest. All the way to Storm Wind.

THAT is what I miss in the current retail WoW. All that journey simply to quest with my partner, it was fun, a little adventure! I've made 3 friends online already and she's made several as well due to being forced to group up for survival in certain quests/areas.

It's much more focused on MP than retail I find.

On the PVE server - Darrowshire or whatever it's called now.

Transferred my old characters over and my main is my undead Warlock - having fun again.

Played during the beta of wow up until BC but left before the next expansion hit - and also worked as a GM at EU Blizz during those years, so it's nice to go back to this era for me.

Just a heads up, do NOT buy gold. I got banned for buying 100g (£3.50 lol), couldn't cope with the tiny bag count any more so bought some gold. Log in this afternoon and now I'm banned.

Yes yes yes, cheating etc. I'm a grown man, with a full time job. I don't have the free time I did over 10 years ago. So don't bother lecturing me about it.

Yup Nost was always pretty strict on such things too. Guy I worked with had the same happen to him on the old Nost server, he bought some gold, cant remember how much it was but he spent about £20, so I am guessing it was a fair whack of gold (if your 100 for 3.50 is any barometer) and as with you, 24 hours later he was banned.

Well good to see they don't want low life cheats in the game, grown man, no time etc, just an excuse to hide behind for cheating.

Whats would be a good toon for someone who has never really played wow. Thinking of giving it a go on this server, so get a feel for what it was like when it was first out.

Hunter is great for PVP and leveling but they suck at high end PVE so can be hard to find a guild to join but if you do find one it is easy to get gear as you are against a smaller pool of people.

I was a god in PVP towards the end of Vanilla. One shotting cloth classes with zerker buff

Have rolled a Troll Hunter on Anathema and it feels so good. Game actually feels like a challenge again.

Anyone know of any sites that cater for mods for vanilla servers or any wow databases that do as well?

It is a shame about the gold ban thing. I simply do not have the time to grind gold like I did before so was planning to buy some gold too. Guess I will give that one a miss.
