ok probably a bad choice of words, for that i'm sorry.. i shouldn't have called two people who've alienated their parents and ran away from home with a couple of mains powered computers and £700 to their name morons, in this day and age i'm probably supposed to call them graduates?

LOL, truly brilliant. :D

so many

i was doing a quest in guild wars once..and a kid was being shouted out by his parents.. because he had to go and have a bath..instead of going to have a bath he rather stink and complete the quest..they said they would take away guild wars from him if he didnt have a bath LOOL

Seriously though that is totally not related to the game whatsoever. There's a video on google videos that's about CS addiction and how it can ruin a kids life (Is from a parents p.o.v). Watch that if you want to see the extent to which they can "Ruin your life" so to speak.
I think I've seen it. The guy's son turned pro and is now in SK iirc. What a backfire.

Any chance you have the link, or know the name of that. Sounds quiete a fun watch ^^

I wasted a good four years of my life playing counter-strike. Although I have some very fond memories, I really should have been out engaging in underage drinking, sex and mind-altering drugs.

I think its funnier that people are trying to fault WoW for what the OP's two dumb *** friends are doing.

I play WoW and I have yet to go AWOL and live out of a car and niether have any of my RL friends.

I mean, it couldnt possibily be because the two idiots in question share a single brain cell between them. NO, it is all related to the game. It is the game that is forcing them to sit down for hours upon hours upon hours playing but the game only chooses certain people to do this to. Those people who play who have common sense, work ethic, and self control are not selected.

In fact, I dont even think the two friends in the OPs post even exist

If you play it for a good few hours you soon get hooked. Well most people i know do anyway. My main had 70 days played on it before i quit.. and thats pretty low compared to some

A bit OT, but you quit?

I used to play WoW, until this month I quit around the 17th and sold my account for about 300 quid it was.

Anyway, I let WoW take over me, I got addicted, kind of didn't wanna go out, didn't wanna do social just wanted to play WoW, did this from April 2005 to around September 2006 ( got bored stiff with the game around this time and eventually quit this month )

Anyway yeah I regret even starting to play but partly my fault for being that addicted to it, first game ever thats had such a hook on me, oh well learn from your mistakes eh? ;]

Rebuilding social life now, going well :)

You pretty much did exactly the same as me :)

My social life wasnt too bad though, i would always go out if i had the choice, just the game sucked me in when i wasnt out.

All is good now though :D

I had around 150 days on my 2 chars, the game really was tooo bad. As soon as i heard about TBC i quit while i had the chance to gain some money :)

Played it for a good year and I did choose to screw over my A-levels and play wow instead. (was a bad choice :p)
Cleared the spider wing, noth the plaugebringer and instructor razu in Naxx.

Quit that now though and got a dream job so it's not all bad! :)

I played Daoc/WoW for a good few years, often 10~hours a day (over 1 year /played in Daoc  ). I am not sure if I regret it because I made some good friends in other countries I have met in real life now and had a great deal of fun in the process. I am pretty glad I stopped when I started Uni though, else my grades would have suffered. I do regret looking a lot of my real life friends in the process but luckily I have always been able to make friends easy again. /Shrug even without WoW I am pretty antisocial :p .

Not like it messed up my life, still doing a decent subject at an pretty good uni.

I really don't see what WoW has to do with the OPs friends being immature kids. A lot of teenagers decide they hate their lives and want to move away, would you blame CS if it had been a CS clan meet? I doubt it.

o yeah just to make things worse Lincolnshire is *google earthes* 113 miles away from here...

they moved because they decided life in cambridge was crap. apparently its better in Lincolnshire??? dont ask me this. i might call them soon so get those questions ready. i will write the whole convo out

and if you have a QUESTION to ask them make it obvious for me to read out.

EDIT> they played on frostmain server. ones called scisilice or something.

i agree that wow isnt to blame, but as a former MMORPG addict (anarchy online, not this WoW crap!) I do find some irony in your post.

Im not sure about wow as cant speak from experience, but to enjoy high level content in AO raids could last from 1-4 hours and I felt a sense of duty to the friends i made over the 3 years i played. I will admit I do have an addictive personality and am full of regret that i picked up the game...but the combination of the game mechanics and the social side to the game meant playing required 100% concentration for hours at a time. So yes, I made the choice to play, but by playing to high level i was forced to spend hours at a time to achieve anything in the game.

As i think back, even the guys who werent that hardcore, still 'had' to make sacrifices to advance their player character (be on at xxxx time for xxx hours for xxx raid to gain xxx item)
