WP8.1

How do I get Cortana, removed the developer preview and stuck stock rom back on, it is a 8.1/cyan rom.
As far as I can tell language/region is set to uk.

I think you need the Dev preview.

Install it again to get the latest updated.

I also rolled back then upgraded to Cyan.

I thought they released Cortland in uk for 8.1 or was it 8.1u1 or was it just for developer preview?

I don't seem to have ipdate1 as I can't make folders.
DP doesn't have cyan and so you can't use the new Bluetooth features, which I need. Do if it's not out yet I'll just wait and keep Bluetooth functions.

Wonder why I don't have Update1 or if it hasn't been released for 1320 when will it be.

Edit - yep DP only for uk Cortana, proper release in coming months.

Still wonder why I haven't got update1 or is that DP only as well?

Get the right phone and you'll have a fancy glance screen that'll show any notification you want even when the phones locked.

I'm hoping a 1020 replacement is announced soon, or it will be a 930 probably.

I'm not touching anything without the Glance screen.

May I ask why? I have a 1520 and have recently turned glance off. If I want to see notifications I just double tap it instead. Either way I have to reach towards my phone. It's not like it knows when you're actually glancing at it.

I would drop glance in a heart beat for a damn notification light.

I've not had a phone with glance so it would'nt be a feature to miss, as long as WP8.1 makes proper use of puch notifications now and has all the apps i use, not many tbh, i'll be happy.

Can the nokia app's like Drive be installed on none nokia devices ?

Because all you have to do is Glance at the screen, no double tapping lark. Your email count it there, Facebook, WhatsApp, etc ....... I'll stick with my 920 until Microsoft release a spangly new phone with all the 920 features ........ or I might get a 925.

I completely forgot it had an always on option, I only ever set mine to peek. Have you done a test on how much battery it uses? Just by default I tend to turn off everything as I'm always running low (hence getting a 1520).

Hi all,

Just a quick note in here as this is the only forum I'm really signed up to that has a decent mobiles section..

Anyway, since the 8.1 update on both mine and GF's 925 we have had numerous issues with the Glance screen effectively "freezing" and the time/notifications don't update at all. This can be fixed by just toggling out of the glance screen and then going back into it.

(Occurs at random durations - I realise there's no particular reproduction steps in that but I honestly don't know what to say).

Since glance has been a major feature for these phones it's highly disappointing it no longer works properly. Does anyone know if a fix is being looked into/in testing?

I seriously hope since the 930 no longer has the capability this feature isn't forgotten about. (if so I'll have to look into going back to pre-8.1 and the dark ages of mobile browsing).

Any info people have on this would be useful, as having features on a OS working properly is likely to influence future purchasing decisions.

Many thanks to everyone (if anyone) responds in advance.

No issue with glance(1320) on proper 8.1 (ie non developer) although no issue with it I'm developer preview either in fact the public release haven't even been having issues with certain apps, that I was with developer preview.

Anyone got two step authentication working for outlook?

I have a Windows Phone

1.On your phone, open Settings.

2.Tap email+accounts.

3.Tap your Microsoft account.

4.Visit your security info page online to get an app password.

5.Replace the password on your phone with the app password.

6.Tap the Done icon
.

there is no password in email settings.
If it truly means change phone password, then you can't as the password the website spits out in alpha and phone password can only be numeric. I'm confused.

I have under Windows 8.1.1 on my PC and Android on My Nexus 4

Dunno if there is one for WP8.1 (there should be cos its all Microsoft) but Android has an 'Authenticator' app which pops up asking if 'so-n-so is allowed access to your account' and you click 'Authenticate'...

I'm still waiting for 8.1 for my 920 from EE on T-Mobile, is it easy to get 8.1 on it now, i'd like a few months on 8.1 at least before my contract is up ;)
