Can you use a Wraith Stealth Cooler to cool a Ryzen 7 5700x ? It’s supposed to have a TDP of 65W which is what a Wraith Stealth Cooler is capable of.

I’m thinking of upgrading from a Ryzen 5 2600 and want to reuse the Wraith Stealth Cooler. Says here the Wraith Stealth Cooler can cool a Ryzen 7 5700G which is the same thing isn’t it but with integrated graphics.

it would do fine, just spin up under load. but it would do that with the 2600 anyway.
it would limit boost speeds but to would work

if your limited for space i would go with the Wraith Spire it as a copper slug in the middle and is much better at dealing with heat
 
I'm cooling the 5800X with a wraith prism although that is a vastly superior cooler to the stealth, tbh I'd just grab a cheap £20 air cooling as the stealth would probably end up throttling performance.

The 5700G is a different CPU, is based on a mobile CPU, has half the L3 cache and is PCI-E 3.0 only.

I installed my new 5700x yesterday using the Wraith Stealth Cooler. Looks like it boosted to 4667 MHz when running 3D Mark...

Sounds about right. How noisy is it?

that going over the stated max boost, all be it for a short time but still id be happy depending on the noise and temp. you should test with Cinebench R20 for a few loops run it 4 or so times, that would show if it holds the boost clock or if you have temp problems.

is it just a gaming rig?
 
I've run Cinebench R23 and these are my results...

Do they look about right? The Threadripper 1950x 16c 32t scores 16315. I've searched google and results for both the 5700x and 1950x in Cinebench R23 are higher than what it says they are in Cinebench R23 itself.
 
I've got it sussed, Precision Boost Overdrive was set to AUTO in the BIOS. I enabled it instead and ran Cinebench R23, I got a higher score but the temps were at 95C whereas set to AUTO they get to about 80C which obviously means PBO was disabled. Also it only boosts to 3.8 GHz not 4.6 GHz under Cinebench workload with PBO set to AUTO.

This would explain why the 1950x gets a higher score in google searches than it does in Cinebench R23 itself. PBO was obviously not running when they ran Cinebench R23 on the 1950x that is included in the Cinebench R23 results.

So now I have a choice buy a better cooler which will allow me to boost to 4.6 GHz under Cinebench R23 workload or leave it set to AUTO which will allow it to boost to 4.6 GHz whenever the CPU is not being loaded 100% as per 3D Mark results.

PBO is technically overclocking from the base clock of 3.4 GHz anyway and there is no harm running with the Wraith Stealth Cooler temp wise with PBO set to AUTO. I just lose a bit of the overclocking under 100% CPU load, the temps are fine.
 
Well I have disabled PBO completely and still get around the same score and temps, which are 12370 in Cinebench R23 with a max temp of 83C and 9888 CPU score in 3D Mark Timespy with an average temp of 82C.

yer PBO push's past the stock setting if you disable it you will still get the same boost clockas stated on the box.
TBF PBO is trash. on my system it got me and extra 0.5Ghz and an extra 11c manual overclock got me 1.5ghz all clock extra and only an extra 4c...

with the cooler your running i would be happy with pulling full boost and move on with my life :).
 
You want to try playing with curve optimizer, set all core -20/-30 and try increasing the boost clock overide by +200mhz. If +200 isn't stable then try a bit less etc.
 
I've read good things about this one too the Vetroo V5 Black CPU Cooler. Its not for sale on ocUK but is supposed to be good. Any thoughts on it? Have you heard of it before?
