Wreckfest devs go bankrupt.

No surprise considering it took them AN ENTIRE YEAR for an update to come out, and that update broke the game and made it miles worse.

I'd love a €34.99 refund. Because the game hasnt had any changes since I bought it, which is a looong time ago.

Yeah the game ran well and was a ton of fun until the Build 7(?) update last year. The development process was painfully slow anyway but that lame excuse for an update really killed the game for me.

Yeah do a bit more reading Bugbear have not filed for bankcruptcy. Also they have been releasing updates my Steam client had two big ones in the last month.
I admit though its been a disaster when it could have been a really good game, my two kids still love it though.
In fact they prefer Flatout Ultimate Carnival and play that loads.

Good, sick to the back teeth of 1 or 2 'devs' riding off the thousands of muppets who pay for early access.

Another one down, let's keep it up and clear up the crap.

I was gonna buy it but it was taking so long and i do not do early access after DayZ burned me. People like this and D Hall need to be found and thier pockets emptied to re-fund everyone.

Where else do muppets pay for things that are not yet finnished? The industry at the minute is the worst i have ever seen it in 15 years. But then again look at the signup date for OP 2013 so im guessing the younger generation need to get some sense. Steam greenlight, Early access or Goat simulator selling loads pretty much get me into a horny rant mode instantly.

Sorry sympathy level 0.

Sorry for only finding the forum then, and guess 26 is a young spring chicken. Also massive apologies for a lack of sense too! Just thought I may as well let people know and post it, sorry for that too.

I'm stopping there, I aint getting into arguments over such a trivial thing.

On the other hand, if you and other people did, the company could survive and give us awesome game.

Well indeed.

Plenty of games from dead genres or dead series have happened in the last few years and simply wouldn't exist without some form of pre-purchase model.

In truth, this one was (possibly - we await further news) nixed by the somewhat unforeseen issues the devs had with the change of game engine, and possibly an element of mission creep, rather than being down to insufficient funding. But it's not a reason to abandon pre-funding, especially if there's a niche game you would really like to see developed.

Game development - all the technical complexity of a major software engineering project, combined with the volatility and risk of a creative endeavour. There's always going to be an extremely high risk of failure with game kickstarters, getting a game finished and out the door is hard enough when you've got an experienced, helpful publisher backing you, let alone a mob of kickstarter backers that think they own the project.

Why should the risk be put on the shoulders of the customers? That's what ****** me off about Kickstarter as well, the financial risk is on the consumers shoulders, not necessarily the devs.

You think these guys don't put their time and their savings into these projects?

They get paid for their time do they not? As for putting their own savings in, I would like to see some proof of that if you have it. So many early access games fail, I got burnt with Godus, never again. As far as I am concerned the only game I feel worked with early access was Kerbal Space Program, most others have been to grab a bit of money for little effort at the start and it is only getting worse.

Sure they have. It took over 9 months last year.

This game aint leaving EA this decade.

This is why I don't touch early access.

Assetto Corsa says hi.

Anyway, even if WF doesn't get any more updates I've put many hours into it and the latter updates have improved performance, playability and made it hell of a lot more fun. Multiplayer, while it doesn't always have hundreds of players online is a riot and I can usually find a server with activity in it. I think I only paid about £10 when it was on sale so I've got my moneys worth IMO. With a G27 it's a blast!

I'm not saying this is OK, I'd like to see the finished product (if this bankruptcy filing doesn't spell the end for BugBear) like many other people. There's always an element of risk with buying early access titles; sometimes it pays off & sometimes it doesn't. Until we get official word I'm still hopeful.

Wreckfest was one of four early access racers I bought into but the only one to go **** up. pCARS, Assetto Corsa and Dirt Rally were all well managed and became fully fledged games. Wreckfest started well too :(
