Hey folks, being a big fan of STING (the wrestler NOT the singer) I am trying to find some of his old matches on DVD. I would especially like to see his match ups against the likes of Ric Flair, Big Van Vader, Johnny B Badd and some of his matches leading up to his turning into the Crow type STING (black and white face paint).

Can any fellow wrestling fans here help me out? If anything I just need a push in the right direction. Google either just finds me DVDs about the musician or I get stuff about WWE which Im not really too interested in.

TIA :)

I had a feeling that might be the case, since he was the WCW franchise boy in their days.

So far Ive gone through 20 pages of google..... nothing  :(

The closest Ive got is his most recent one which is more religiously based apparantly. Not really too interested in anything recent, I prefer the older more nostalgic matches i.e. Hogan VS Warrior, Andre VS Big John Stud etc

Think I might have to try the dreaded ebay

If I remember correctly, silverscreen/silvervision did wrestling video's when I had them (ok the companies might have changed, but it might be able to point you in the right direction)

Sting has just joined TNA (as of last night he returned at Destination X), you can get some of the events and videos that were released prior to WCW folding if you search around :)

Silvervision currently deal with all WWE wrestling videos and DVD's, and since WWE own the rights to most of it, they'd be the place to start :)

i have nothing of relevance to say, except thanks for reminding me of saturday afternoon WCW with Ric Flair and Big Van Vader. raised a nostalgic smile :)

i believe "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan was also a bit of a legend. especially when he was on gamesmaster. i think Randy "Macho Man" Savage was in the WCW when i watched it, too.

he might not have been though.

Hacksaw was great but Jake The Snake was the best, he was never the same after Earthquake squashed his python though

Aww man I remember that. The Pythons name was Damian. He'd had him for quite a while. The one he had after, Lucifer, was even bigger.

Ill give the silvervision route a try after lunch.

PS. WCW was awesome in the early days of the NWO. Unfortunately I never got to see the beginnings of it i.e. when Kevin Nash and Scott Hall first came into WCW and when Hogan eventually joined them. I do however remember the Giant(Big Show these days) being powerbombed by Kevin Nash - OUCH!

It wasn't exactly a true powerbomb though, he ended up dropping Show on the back of his head/neck and seriously injuring him. Looked mighty painful as well (though not as painful as Sid's broken leg in the match against Scott Steiner).

Poor old python... Would I be correct in saying that the DDT stood for 'Damian's Death Trap' ?

As for the old matches, get yourself a NES and a copy of an old wrestling game and recreate the matches yourself.

If you're into 'Classics' Wrestlemania IV has got to be the one to watch.

Ric Flair's Ultimate collection features a match with Sting in it.

His days before he was the crow.

It was Jake who named the move DDT, but he never said what it stood for. There are several rumours about it's meaning, including the one you mentioned, but when Jake was asked what DDT meant, he simply replied "The End", so it'll always remain a mystery.
