Rob.

The pricing is so difficult right now and it has to do with exchange rates going all over the place. What I do is everyday I check the currency exchange rates and then look at my profit margin. Last week when Obama got inaugurated and a major bank in England had to get an infusion of capital the exchange rate slipped almost 10% in one day. When this happens I typically wait three days then if it stays the same I adjust my price. But this week the pound has started a rally so what I will do today is look at it at the end of the trading day and consider a price review. I honestly want to keep the price very stable, but under the current economic conditions that is not possible.

I will never truly be able to be the least expensive I have learned that if I change my price my competitors will undercut me one pound.

There are a few reasons for this.

I actually pay 3% more for my cards than my competitors. I know this sounds crazy, but I have made some choices on suppliers and over the years I have learned that the cheaper companies are not reliable for delivery (there codes are perfectly fine). What happens is I will place an order they will take it, and then three days latter I’m looking for the package to arrive and I find out when I ordered they were out but they didn’t tell me so I find myself scrabbling for codes. So about a year ago I just decided I would pay a slightly higher price for a consistent supply. The final time was I ordered my product, I was told it was going to ship, then a major retail chain needed the product and my order got bumped so they could get their stock. This is why you hear from time to time a site that normally delivers pretty quickly taking days to get the product out, the cheap suppliers run out quick (not a scam just annoying). The other problem is I can’t just purchase from the cheap guys and then when supply gets tight switch back to the guys who have them in. I need to make sure I buy from the same guys constantly because they take care of me making sure my product ships. Example right now the supply is actually tight and one of my reps called me up told me they got a large shipment in and he would hold 1300 units for me since I was a good customer, so it is worth it to pay high a bit more.

The other major factor driving price is a site that I consider my main competitor, his site is actually set up with the hope of selling the entire site to someone. So this gentleman sells basically at cost with the hope of selling the site in the future, this is not speculation on my part I have seen his site up for auction several times I think he wants like 9000 pounds for it. Nothing dishonest there but I do wonder what will happen with customer service when the site changes hands if it ever does I don’t know if anyone has purchased it.

I would also like to point out that I have said nothing bad about my competitors, they are plenty of totally legit sites out there that sell game codes, a few not so legit, but for the most part honest people just trying to make money selling codes. Each site has a niche. I have tried to make my niche on better customer service and offering some things on my site like a live forum multiple payment methods. Sure I make mistake from time to time and ship a code with a typo in it or mess up and send the same code to two people but I fix it.

As for the adam thing this actually why I send text codes. If someone tells me they are having an issue with a code I can easily just search my mail program for that text code and it will show me every message that ever went out with that code. Sending scans is pretty manageable until the site really starts doing a serious volume then you just can’t manage it. There is no way to check and see if you double sent the code without hours of work, and any site that says they have never mistakenly sent the same code to two buyers is either lying or just not sold enough codes yet. By doing text I search both access and my mail program to fix errors.

Cheers for the reply, I had imagined the poor strength of the pound sterling was something to do with it as I had read a lot of the supplies camer from the USA, so it all makes sense.

Just thought Id give a little feedback whilst you were possibly around, as I think youve built up a good solid reputation in the niche you have. Hadnt see you respond personally to any forums in the past so think its great you are obviously monitoring where your traffic is coming from and where you are being discussed. Taking the time to have a public face, no matter how small will help hugely in terms of peoples confidence to order.

Good luck with your business in the future. I used to work for a business linked in with top up cards in the days when they were scratchcards and they had the similar problems with mistakes you are obivously facing when its a manual process. They invested in some machinery to automate the whole process, not sure if its something you have looked into? Think it was a very customised job and expensive, but could be an option.

Good forum this (Most of the time), is you fancy sticking around.

Me & Danny would keep you ticking over nicely buying points for Rock Band DLC :(

:D

I would have thought it would be possible to buy on mass GP and be able to knock them out for around £14-15. If you could bulk buy them and sell around that price you would make a killing as people are always looking for that pricepoint on deals websites avforums etc. I normally jump on any points at <£15

I ordered a 12 + 1 sub from Jasper last weekend and received it next day (i ordered it late saturday night i think) No problems at all and cheap as well :)

Just need to find a cheap supplier of 4200 point cards now lol

First off I never ever post in forums it is not my thing. But the post above was so untrue I had to respond. So let me get this straight Adam you purchased a code from me and then a week latter MS banned your account.

I was wondering if you could provide any kind of proof such as a purchase receipt from my site, the email I sent you containing the code, or the letter Microsoft sent you. I would really love for you to post a screen shot of the code I sent you with my email address and a receipt. Then I will gladly post a scan of the card here for the entire world to see.

I get my cards unopened in box directly from Microsoft. Then me and my staff open them up and type them into the computer. I have actually decided that when Mondays shipment comes in (feb 2) to video tape this and post the video on my site just so I never have to see another post like this again.

I'm more curious what your motivation is for that post do you own a competing site or a game store?

Adam another question I have for you, and this really will detail how false your previous post is. Explain the picture of cards I have on my website, let me guess PhotoShop or a covert middle of the night raid on Microsoft. Just to give you a hint I used American Express Business credit card shipped via UPS.

I will also post when I post the video of us opening cards. It is only 500, but I can’t wait to see you respond to that.

Unfortunately I no longer have the details as this happened a long time ago and I no longer have access to my email (old ISP address). I was 99% sure I bought my game time code from yourself but it's entirely possible I have made a mistake. As I said, this was probably 2-3 years ago on eBay.

Apologies, I didn't mean to bad mouth you or tarnish your reputation. You are correct, I should have checked my facts on this occasion.

However, this does serve as a warning for those who are buying from less scrupulous buyers and make sure you get the card!

Well if it was 2 or 3 years ago on EBAY it was not from me, I only started selling codes to the UK 10 months ago. I knew there would be zero posting of any kind of proof of purchase. So basically you made up a story that never ever happened, if I got my gamer tag banned by microsoft I would remeber to the day and exactly who caused me to get it banned. I grow so tired of people like this if you want to give an opinion give an opinion, don't jsut make up so comnpletely bogus story. Yeah I'm irritated do you know how many people read that post thinking it was even remotely true.

So you still have 99% true. Just to let you know you can go back in paypal for years, how about you correct that to zero percent true. Just post the first 5 digits of the email, I have every single transaction I have ever done through paypal in a microsoft access database will take me only a minute to find it, let me guess can't remeber the email address you used to have. Or why not just post your ebay user ID, I'm postitive if I bought something on ebay I would leave feedback for that transaction if I got scammed. So we will just go search my ebay feedback since that is only 100% public, so what is the ebay ID. Here is a link to my old feeback

And to all other members of this forum I appologize for being a jerk, but you have to remeber this person called me a fraud, theif, and a liar and now his reaction is I can't find any proof but still sure it was you this is why Im upset.

Don't worry about it, if it's what you have to do to clear your name it's what you've got to do.

Now you just need to start stocking the points cards. :D

Fair enough, I genuinely made a mistake. The seller in question appears not to be you, you have my apologies :)

My story is far from made up, I have no need to do that. The error on my part came with me thinking it was you who sold the card. I have been through my eBay and PayPal transactions but cannot identify the exact transaction.

My previous reply to you said it is entirely possible I made a mistake, I therefore held my hands up and offered you a full public apology.

Not once did I also call you a fraud, a thief or a liar. You are blowing this out of all proportions. I still stand by my previous posts in respect to advice relating to ensuring you actually get a copy of the game time card. I'm sure you can't argue with that. The mistake I made was assuming you were the person person who sold it to me :)

I intend to go through my PayPal history to find the name of the person who sold me the dodgy game time card. He was a person such as yourself, with a good reputation at the time.

Once again, please accept my sincere apologies for the mix up. I don't blame you for clearing your name or being defensive, you have every right to be. I hope you realise I had made a genuine error rather than looking to tarnish your name in a malicious way.
