X-Com 2 - Announced

You have to unlock the areas where the Avatar projects are currently in progress, by contacting the local resistance

I assume these get plonked in random locations? I seem to have been pretty unlucky with mine, the first being in South America for example. They were one away from completing the project before I managed to get to the first one!

Mouse decided to work again, dinlt know what's changed but finding it so much easier. Maybe just some sleep sorted the brain out.

Was being wounded which affected aim part of long wars? As I want that back.

Above my chars when in combat it occasionally shows 2 downwards red arrows. Anyone know for sure what they mean, there doesn't seem to always be direct correlation with anything else?
I've had it showing over one guy who was shaken, I've had it appear when people are in flanked or exposed places but I've also seen it at the start of a map when my entire squad is undetected?!

Means buff / debuff at least it did in eu / ew. Can include most of what you wrote above but for red arrow if your at lower ground or green arrow for higher ground. Odd that two red arrows showed when you were hidden at the start of the mission. Unless there was an enemy or turret close by at an elevated position or something.

got mag and gaus weapons and the better sword. so fighting is going well. but no good armour yet, critically short of alloy.

and good god I have stuffed the building of the base up, think I will lose this game due to that. didn't realise that you really need to build for more resistance contacts asap.

enjoying it a lot, missing some of the long war stuff, like reduced aim when injured. after I fail this game. will see what mods are available.

Just done my 1st Advent black site. It did not go well :(

Having gone into the count-down (half-way, too) on the Avatar Project, largely because i just wasnt paying attention to the 'Objectives' and ive now managed to get it wound back to 6/12 and not really making any huge efforts to do that, just doing them cos nothing else has come up so off we go etc.

Still havent left Australasia, so presume theres a fair bit more to do, cos im sure ive seen the Avenger ship in Europe before release.
I also realised that i'd been neglecting to use the proving ground, one of the early things i'd built, and never realised it used items (which i had plenty of) and not resources (which i was struggling with) so that helped get some nice toys.

So far, my starting point has never been particularly close to the aliens. I don't think there has been a single time I couldn't run as far as I can go and be spotted by then them.

In that respect its fairer than XCOM and takes the hassle out of the turn timers. Sometimes I see them on the first go in concealment but not close enough that they've seen me.

that will end soon enough, have started a mission with a sectopod standing 4 squares away from my team in open ground any move and out of concealment, thank good that mission had no timer

Ok, but in general the standard timed missions don't plonk you close to enemies usually.

And tell a lie, one of the terror type missions (Aliens attacking Resistance outposts) I did activate some
Chrysalids
on the first go, but was able to kill most of them before they could do any damage.

Question, Avenger defense mission, it is just one event per game or it may randomly repeat at any time? I had one and it really helped to lvl up mu rookie soldiers.
