X-Com 2 - Announced

Ah OK. Was fun though testing all the heavy weapons. I was hoping one of the reinforcements would be a PSI person so I could get zombies with a gatekeeper.

Just done the last mission again and almost did it without taking any damage, then right at the end got hit by a big AOE attack and everyone got hit in one go.

Took 5 Magus PSI soldier and one medic, was so much easier than the last play though when I took standard soldiers of which only one was max rank.

Well I'd played the previous Xcom and sometimes had two promotions to apply at once, which must have been me forgetting to apply them then gaining another one.

Xcom noob it seems! :D

Hoping to finish this this weekend. Loving it so far, will definitely be replaying it. Definitely feeling a bit more prepared now that I have a couple of Psi- troopers, they are pretty awesome.

I'll definitely build the PSI lab much earlier when I get around to a second playthrough! Only got around to it late on and it definitely would have made things easier if I did it earlier

I'm struggling with Commander at the moment, the game just loves taking a dump on me. I'm nearly at the point of triggering the Avatar countdown having not managed to get rid of a single block yet!
Early game I was just losing people left right and centre so made no progress. Eventually got predator armour and can now put up a fight, but am constantly coming up against some really tough enemies which is proving a good challenge. The issue I'm having is that the Avatar buildings I need to take on were multiple steps away and I'm really struggling to get enough intel and radio comms to get to them. Currently trying to make contact with a country with one and then end up getting a mission I can't avoid pulling me back to the other end of the map!

Yep, doing this in my current play through. One of the first things I built and upgraded. But did mean I came close to losing due to not having enough comes. About half way again but have four fully maxed psi troops and working one two more. So much fun :D

just got this after really enjoying the first one. My god I am sick of the limited turns to reach the objective allready.

First mission, advent base, 8 turns to reach this network thing before it shuts down, takes 4 bloody turns to even get near it, let alone actually shoot at the patrol on the way, ended up with my entire squad in compromised positions.

Why can't the timer start counting down once I've revealed myself...

Finished my veteran playthrough last week without too much trouble. Now - veteran ironman or normal commander next??

Commander Ironman all the way

If you can complete veteran Ironman I would be very impressed. The early game is ridiculous.

On Veteran the early game isn't that bad at all - one grenade is a guaranteed kill on anything as is any shot that hits...

rufus you mustn't have played veteran for a while, most enemies have more health than weapons can do early game, there's certainly no guaranteed kill on hits.

Install a mod to remove it (or play more and discover its not really an issue and its easily achievable within the turn limits).

Anyone else get really annoyed at the silly messages, nearly all off them have zero thought behind them.

Like when you do a grounded UFO mission and timer activates, why is it taking 6turns to send a message to get back up, wtf. Why not say alien communication detected or sos beacon etc you have 6 turns till alien fleet arrives and obliterates you.

So many daft silly messages. Some one needs to do a mod to make these things make sense,

Veteran is the hardest mode....

I'm playing right now and you are really lucky if a grenade kills the weakest '4' health Advent soldier.

Not to mention the early levels have commanders and Sectoids which would take 2-3 grenades each.

Are you sure? I thought the default ADVENT troops have less health and your troops have more (compared to Commander+)...

Veteran is the 2nd easiest mode (see link above)... the 4 health basic ADVENT are from Commander difficulty and upwards

Commanders are dangerous but less so once you easily grenade the basic troopers, and Sectoids although they seem scary will use that zombie raise thing 80% of the time, and other psionic attacks which aren't immediate enough of a threat to stop you getting the troops out of the way
