X-Com 2 - Announced

As a small tip - enemy within is available on android/iphone and plays about as well as you could ever wish for (it's a nigh on perfect copy of the console/PC versions). About the best game on the portables.

Totally agree but it eats battery life.

Gave me the fishing village mission before I could even research laser weapons or the Skeleton suit. It didn't end well.

Love the game and with it being PC Exclusive (but for how long?) , I can't see them downgrading it. It would only be modded back up again.

Easily my most anticipated game. Inclusion of the much needed mod support tools will ensure this game has a long life ahead of it.

Heh, I had the fishing village early doors too. I quite like at that point though, the... final part feels pretty tense rather than just being a shooting range followed by a short jog :) I took a pretty assault based mix for it, no (major) lack of firepower but obviously a bit hamstrung for range. Made it MOST fun though.

That one's about my favorite mission, worked hard on my reply to avoid spoilers as it's worth playing blind :)

Replied on battery. If you've got more power to throw at it, the mobile version really doesn't disappoint.

On topic though, this will almost certainly be my favourite game this year if it plays as well as X-com:EU/EW.

Long War on normal is harder than impossible was on vanilla

Loving it, except the insanely hard UFO battles, severely starved of alloys because every UFO either escapes or beats all 6 of my interceptors. Can't upgrade my jet weapons because they cost 30 alloys each and I have like 5 :D and outside of UFO missions the game barely gives you any alloys. I think they held the mod back from being perfect with the air battles, at least until you realize that certain research and engineered items that increase the amount of alloys you find is invaluable at the beginning, too late now though. :(

Long War is seriously tough. I haven't managed to finish it yet. I think it might be a little bit too long. I have a playthrough where I have just about managed to get the proper laser weapons. I am sure it took me about 50hrs to get there....

I've been playing through using the Not So Long War option (or dynamic war, something like that). It's still bloody hard though, just ragequit on the furies mission. Might tweak the cinematic mode hit chances in the ini file to make it a bit less frustrating.

Long war is too long imo, I edited the research ratio to being a little less slow.

Later on it's fine, as once you get a few laboratories & scientists it pulls ahead - but until that happens you have to go months & months before you even get lasers & basic armour.

I had a fully upgraded base (almost all slots done with x4 bonus) well before I had any tech, this meant that as soon as the research credits came in I ended up moving from lasers->plasma in no time at all.

I toned down the early research requirements (by a fair bit) & increased the later ones (but about half) - this provided a far more satisfying experience. I also reduced the injury/rest timers by about 50% - as those 35 day injury's really start to add up).

This really should be multiplatform tbh. Even if it didn't sell amazingly on consoles. It's not going to get a lot of exposure being on IGN, would have loved to of seen it in the PS4/XB1 showcases, because that's where the majority of the hype comes from.

I do understand that PC gaming is the biggest it's ever been and Steam will have nice big juicy XCOM 2 art and graphics for release day, but that's probably the best and biggest piece of exposure the game will get.

Really want an XCOM 3 afterwards tbh... :(

ial ways thought this would make an epic base for a Stargate game.

mountain baser but instead of sending forces out on a transport they go through the stargate.

explore and bring things back to research
