X-Com 2 - Announced

Wow.

We are happy to announce Long War Studios, the developers behind the Long War total-conversion mod for XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM: Enemy Within, has partnered with Firaxis Games and 2K for XCOM 2.

The Long War Studios team, which is comprised of John Lumpkin, Rachel “Amineri” Norman and James “JCLewis” Karlson, is currently hard at work on multiple mods for XCOM 2. These mods are currently slated to be available at launch on February 5, 2016. We’ll have more information about the content of these mods soon.

playing xcom enemy unknown... never played it before... AWESOME GAME...
going to get this deffo

is enemy within an dlc?

It's the base game with a lot more content. You get the option to launch enemy within or enemy Unknown. Basically the same game but enemy within gets some nice features, extra missions and new class. The overall story arch is the same.

I got the base game is it worth getting the expansion on your personal opinion

Yeah I would think so, I believe its about £6 of cd key sites, and with that you get everything you would in the main story and few new enemy types, new character classes and what not. Probably not worth the £20 quid steam want for just the expansion though.

Wow indeed. Simply announcing that they'll be supporting XCOM2 with mods is great news, but to announce they'll be available at release just goes to show how much the developers rated those guys, flippantly referring to their game as a 20hr prelude to the long war, and now presumably giving them access early enough that they're able to produce something for launch, even if its just a tweaked play mode and not as complex as TLW was (still havent got around to it - only just started on EW).

Thats certainly a reason to feel positive about preordering... but i think i'll be holding off, not through doubt, but due to a dispute with my wallet - it says im skint and im struggling to disprove its argument.

Looks like Greenmangaming messed up the other day. They had the digital deluxe listed for £34.99 the other day so i snapped that bad boy up straight away.

Back to £47.99 now

Decent offer, however I'm guessing you couldn't use a discount code on that? If so that's the same deal they've been doing on and off, although the price has gone back up now there is a 25% off code you can use.

ah ok then, it was the first time i noticed it that low and no the discount didnt work but still a good offer i found seeing as its the same price for just the base game on steam

Have had Enemy Unknown sitting in my Steam library for years. I remember buying it specifically because of the number of GOTY awards it got. Unfortunately though, as with most of my other Steam games, it remains unplayed to this day. May have to put it next on my "to play" list in anticipation of the release of this sequel.

Do it. I recommend this action.

Oh yeah I completely agree, I grabbed it for that price last weekend using the code, I was briefly annoyed when I saw the new deal before realising it was the same

I rarely pre-order or buy delux editions, can't wait for this!

A really in-depth preview for X-Com 2.

Loads of parts, loads of missions, class breakdowns - everything. So far I'm very impressed with some of the tactical elements of the game.

Any news that I missed on pre-loading? It's looking like as an (honest) co-incidence Friday will also be the day I take off work to get my car sent in all day for a recall and thus be taking a day off work and I wouldn't mind being ready from the second I get up.

I have only just started playing Xcom Enemy Unknown! after picking it up in the winter sale!

Enjoying it a lot - which surprised me as i am not usually in to tactical games like this.
