x2 3800 Owners - OC's

I was dual prime testing my x2 3800+ at 2.5ghz with 1.425Vcore the other day, tests passed pine for 10 hours of small FFTs, but when I tried to use World of Warcraft afterwards it kept crashing on me (program not responding) so I kept having to close it, comp was still running though.

Ran large FFT's overnight for 7 hours or so and it passed ok, but again when I went to play WoW it would crash (was fine after a reboot though) and when I tried HL2 that crashed with the message memory could not be read, and straight after I got a BSOD.

I wanna make sure my system is as stable as possible but obviously if games are crashing after some use something could be up along the way here. which tests should I run to ascertain whether or not my computer is stable?

p.s my cpu was reaching about 55 degrees after 10 hours of prime, and my mobo temps were reading into the 40's earlier would could have been one of the reasons for the crashes?

cheers.

Try raising CPU voltage more :), if not it could be mem related :)

My plan is to replace this BS 3800+ for a Opty/X2 that does atleast 2.8Ghz when M2 comes out, should be quite cheap then!

Mines seems to be running fine at 1.5V try upping it a tad yet again i did also think it was memory related try an memtest

Those temps you got are bull then ;)

No swearing, read the FAQ.

I'm gonna be ordering a X2 3800+ hopefuly next week and am after a LDBHE 0601. I've seen a few people on here with them and was wondering if anyone has had one shipped from OcUK. Cheers.

Just ordered a 3800, should be arriving on monday, but i won't be able to paly with it till Friday, using a Abit AN8-Ultra mobo and corsair twin x xms 3200C2PT RAm, the RAM'll hit 245MHz stable, so I proabably know that im gonna be using a 333 divider to hit 2.5 and try to hit 2.6.

What do you reckon temps are going to be like if I try to clock to 2.5/2.6 on standard cooling, planning on getting another cooler next month, can't this month due to having just spent most of my money on the chip >.>

Any reccomendations like max voltage to use for air cooling, and what temps i should be using for my max temps?

what are the PWM temps btw, they the mosfets and voltage regulators?

whats better, the toledo or manchester at overclocking. Also, whats better 3x or 4x ht and whats the difference

toledo's were designed with 1MB cache/core - Manchesters were 512KB/core - so if your chip has a Toledo - but only has 512KB cache showing then its because of a fault in some of the cache which stopped it being sold as a 4400/4800/FX60 - and rather than chuck it, they disabled the faulty cache (the ability for which they design into the chip) and left it with the other half - but things like CPU-Z still know its a Toledo even though it only has 1/2 the cache it should. Also since a manchester was designed with 1/2 the cache the chip is smaller - not that that matters too much since the IHS covers all (unless you remove it) and the inactive cache in toledos isnt using any juice/producing any heat.

My X2 3800 - from the first batch that came into the coutry is an JH-E6 Manchester.

LDBHE 0601UPMW
currently doing 2.7 @ 1.4v 38c idle/48c load
Only using a v1 Hyper6 with ystech 80mm fan

Its the PWM temps that get me 62c  well up from the single opty @ 3g

My PWM temps were around there untill i got the Cross Flow Fan for my stacker knocked an good bit off them
