x2 3800 Owners - OC's

Since the reinstall it won't boot into windows at over 2.7GHz..... :(
Thats one of the disadvantages of running XP rather than win2k.
atm mine is completely stable at 2.5GHz
250x10
4x HT
1.4v
RAM DDR500 2.5-3-3-6

Will work on tweaking settings at the weekend. AM sure its got much more in it when I have the time.

What O/S are other people using?

Not OC'ed properly but it did 2,1Ghz easily with stock cooler, and its about 1.37ish volts with Geil ultra X Bh5 Ram at 2-2-2-5-1T

Not sure about core either

I've benched it at 2,2 ghz, not sure if its stable or not

woot! flashed to bios 704 2Bta and have gotten to 279x10 @ 1.55v

running cpuburnin at the mo and will try for 280 again in a few days :)

might try 1.65v again as well. think i may finally get it stable then :D

i must have been lucky then? I have Toledo 3800+ @ 2.4 (i dont want to go anymore - so it might easier go faster than 2.4) on 1.3v (isnt that less than stock? ie. 1.35 to 1.4?), checking my idle temp they are 1c less than the motherboard (cpu 27c, mb 28c) [update] damn cpu gone up to 30c now idle.

very stable,

240x10
4x HT
1.3v
RAM DDR400 2.5-3-3-6 (T1)
cooler: ThermalRight XP-120 with Akasa AK-182-L2B

fine at 275 1T tho
memtested fine in bios and windows. am going to stick with this i think for now. :D

2.75Ghz with RAM @ 1:1 @ 3-4-4-8 (will try ram @ 3-3-3-8 later)

OK, here's where I'm up to at the moment with my X2 3800 -

2500MHz
HTT 250
2Gb OCZ 3200 Platinum 208 FSB @ 2-3-2-5 1T
Vcore 1.5V
HT 4X
Manchester core
Cooler SI120 with Akasa Ultra Quiet fan
Prime stable 10hrs @ 2400, appears stable @2500 (not Primed)
M/B Abit AV8 3rd Eye

Update - now tested Prime stable 2500MHz @ 1.475V

Im at 2.55ghz now, 1.595V BIOS - 1.536V CPU-Z - its now folding - ill see what happened to ti tomrrow, goign to change to a 180 divider to get some more mem bandwidth.

Conc

im running at 280 htt with a multi of 10 and 1.6v with 2.5-3-3-5 timings with 2gig twinmoss at 1t with a 133 divider this is with a x2 3800 toledo chip and a dfi ultra-d and is prime stable.
all cooled by a waterchill extreme kit

id run that Bh-5 @ 250 mhz at least(3.3v). with a 10x multil on the cpu and x4 on the HT for some wicked speed. :)

Good ol BH-5 , might get myself two sets of that, anyone used two sets.? what clocks you get with all four dimms in use.?

Hello fellow 3800 X2 owners!

I've just swapped my single core SD 3700+ for one, so am hoping to get a stable overclock of at least 2.2 so I am not down on clock speed for single threaded apps.

For some reason though I can't even get super pi to complete on both cores at just 2.2... I thought this level OC would be almost a cert.

The symptoms are odd though.

I can complete to 8M on each core fine if I do them one at a time. However, if I run both at once, whichever core I start last fails, while the first confinues fine.

If I swap the afiinity then the same happens but for the opposite core. The error I get is "Not convergent in SQR05".

I've tried upping the CPU voltage to 1.5 to see if that helps, and my memory is using a divider so is only running at 183.3 Mhz.

I'm puzzled by this, if it failed on the same core every time then I'd know that core was weak, but as I can repeatedly get the core of my choosing to fail depending on which order I start them in I wonder if there is something else going on?

EDIT: From reading around other forums based on a Google search it seems people with 100% rock solid overclocks get the exact same problem, and I get the same problem even at stock speeds - my conclusion is that you cannot concurrently run two instances of SuperPi. I shall therefore test each core one at a time. Anyone car to say if this is correct?
