x2 3800 Owners - OC's

Default timings so probably something ugly like 8-4-4-3.0 2T, it seems its all about the MHz though with A64's, you see little performance hit by running the mem dividers and slack timings.

Thats on a DDR333 divider so its running at 217MHz, and 2.7v.

Edit- yep 7-4-4-3.0

3800 X2 LDBHE 0601 VPMW

Ok this is a new stepping and the chip is brand new. I put her in & turned it to 2.8Ghz on 1.5v straight away and it booted into windows. :D

Ive lowered the Vcore to 1.48v and its priming at 2.7Ghz 2Hr+ as we speak.

This is me 2nd 3800X2 and a massive improvement.

The best news is its on AIR. ill post results once i find the highest stable OC, especially when i plug her in my DFI water cooled rig :D

FX60 Eat ya Heart OUT. :D :D

nice cpu you got there 4Q :)

Thanks mate,

I lowered it to 1.45v and to 2.6Ghz as my ram can only hit 260ish and its still solid in prime. Ill keep it folding tonight and im sure it will be stable still in the morning.

It boots at 2.85Ghz 1.5v but fails prime so im sure some more vcore would solve that. ;)

Looks like the 3800 is still best bang for buck X2 without a doubt :D

Update tomorrow with findings. Night

Wouldn't hold your breath, I've had a LDHBE 0601 for a week or so, it isn't prime stable over 2.7GHz even with 1.7v (see above) The annoying thing is one of the cores is capable, the others dragging it down.

It'll run Prime for hours at 2.6GHz 260HTT 1:1 though which I'm happy with.

I had it priming for over 3hrs at 2.7Ghz without a problem. The max i can use
is around 1.5v on this board which sucks.

Im going to keep it at 2.6Ghz 1.45v as its solid and ill try more in my DFI. ;)

Tim,
But im impressed with this chip its better than my last 3800 X2. That wouldnt boot at 2.8 even with higher Vcore. I was going to go for a 4400 and im glad i didnt. :)

mine is at 2.5ghz with stock Vcore. 250x10 :)

My other 3800 X2 could do 2.4Ghz 1.325v Dual Prime stable 18Hr+. I think the
increase on the 3800 is around the 2.5+ mark. Well its what it seems to be like on this new one and the other.

Have you seen what the max is mate and what stepping is it.

Hit a nice 2.6Ghz this morning. Put plenty of volts through it to make sure it it possible. Gradually taking the volts down but havnt got time at the moment. But screenie below.

Unfortunately my asrock 939dual sata2 won't let me increase the Vcore :( . I haven't checked the stepping, because I would have to remove my cooler then. It's hard work to take the scythe ninja on and off... But it seems stable at 2.55ghz too, at least in occt, but I get random reboots in battlefield 2 for some reason.

Forget OCCT and run Prime95 on each core. Copy Prime95.exe to 2 different directories and open both. Set affinity on each, core0 on one and core1 on the other.

If it returns no errors after 3-4hrs I'd consider it stable but others (including me) tend to run it twice as long as that.

Tim,

Me also, ive had overclocks fail on 8hrs so i run for around 12Hrs when i consider
it a Max final OC. :)

I also leave my rig folding a lot and it will soon crash within 24hrs if its a weak OC.

I just picked up my new X2 3800 today, does anyone know anything about this stepping?

CCBWE 0528XPMW i was told it was a toledo core, are these better/worse than the manchesters?

Of course it's an manchester :p . Basically, a x2 3800+ is a manchester which consists of 2x3200+(venice), which means that it has 2x512kb L2 cache. However, if you move up to x2 4400+ or x2 4800+ you will get a toledo, which basically consists of 2x3700+(san diego) or 2x4000+(san diego), which means that it got 2x1mb L2 cache

Hi there guys!
