X3 reunion

Second the joystick advice. You'd be handicapping yourself with a keyboard and mouse for flight in X3.

well i havnt got a joystick, and thanks for that pdf linkage! might help loads and its making me seriously think about re-installing it again

is it possible to use the 360 pad for flight then?

I followed a thread on the egosoft forum for "begginers guide to everything" but it still missed out some essential details. It said things like "Go here and do the task" but doesn't explain how the hell to go somewhere.

Is there like a bradygames guide or something?

Fantastic game. Very in depth, and the XTM universe expansion adds even more. One of my all-time faveourites.

The only drawback is that it eats up massive amounts of time if you want to really get into it, and if you haven't played X2 or X-BTF it can be a steep learning curve. Oh, and you will really want a joystick for this game.

I have a control pad with 2 analogue control sticks, Saitek P2500. Works a dream with analogue.

Fantastic game, although I admit to leaving in on overnight a couple of times with SETA activated to enable my UT's and stations to make some money :p

To be honest with not much spare time at the moment if I do get chance to play it I just like flying around the Kingdoms End system looking at the graphics and listening to the soundtrack, both are are utterly wonderful.

I liked the X² and X³ games so much, I designed some of the in-game graphics for them. :) Paying job, naturally. ;)

Good job with the graphics mate they are amazing :)

Hi

Can you give me some tips on the 'best' way to set up a gamepad to work with this game.... I've just installed it and there seems to be a lot of controls to configure. I'm guessing the keyboard has to be used a lot too but how should I set up my pad to make flying around easy?

FYI I have a pad very simlair to a dual shock 2.

*Edit* Sorry if it seems I'm being really lazy/stupid (I'd normally work this sort of thing out for myself)... I don't have a lot of free time at the moment so any pointers would be great.

take a trip to the egosoft forums, its the best place to ask this.

I've been playing this again for the last 2-3 weeks trying to get a new game off the ground. But i got my butt handed to me in one game. Was caught in system with my wheat farm in Omicron Lyrae when a Xenon P entered, wasted my Mercury Superfreighter and my wheat farm, destroying 90% of my assets and leaving me with 170k :P

But i started a new game this morning and found a neat little trick for making a mountain of money fast :D Found some Nividium in a system that i'm collecting and selling. So i'm currently on the hunt for more as its insanely profitable :D I can use that money to fund my first complex which i think i'll be setting up on a nice and juicy Ore and Silicon mine :D

Damn, I'm so tempted to install this again.

Where are the saved games kept? In the installation folder or somewhere else?

After reading this thread ive dusted off my copy of x3(not that you need to dust anything with the official nocd patch) and start a new game.

To play the game properly ive ordered on of these :D, my old joystick is all worn out :(

 just noticed a 2.5 patch has been released

This is the same stick that i use, I love it. Just make sure you have plenty of spare batteries. And also, there is one niggle, when not used for a while, it will go into sleep mode, which sometimes requires you to remove the battery and put it back in to wake it up.

It was easy for me as Saitek provided me the software to program literally anything!

But what I went with was the two analogue sticks to control and move the ship (X3 should pick this up in the game)
Right Shoulder button - Fire Cannons
Left Shoulder button - Fire Missiles
Left on D-Pad - Next Enemy Target
Right on D-Pad - Previous Enemy Target
Down on D-Pad - Next Normal Target
Up on D-Pad - Previous Normal Target
Button 1 - Speed up
Button 3 - Slow Down
Button 4 - SETA
Button 2 - Docking Computer
Button 5 - Manual Aim
Button 6 - Request Docking
Shift Up - Wingment Cover me
Shift Down - Wingmen Attack my Target
Shift Right - Wingmen Protect my Target
Shift Left - Jump to Reinforcements (This button I love! My M2 Destroyer, Supported by 4 M6 Frigates and 14 M3+ Fighters back me up! :D)
And if I need further assistance, i'd call in the M1 carrier!

where did you find the nvidium? ive been looking for some for this Xtended mission i need to do

thexuniverse.com

or

the xtm thread at egosoft.com in the S&M forum (Scripts and Modding sadly)
