Can't believe I've only heard of this. Big fan of X3. Waiting on reviews though....

If the gameplay is solid like in X3, i really wont care about clunky animation and i'm sure mods can simplify station/ship interiors.
Hope the game has good mod support and they don't try to lock it all down for the sake of DLC.
moods were what made x3 so good

Rebirth had a lot of momentum behind it though, Egosoft had a lot of goodwill from gamers and a hardcore fanbase. It also game out when the space sims genre experienced a revival thanks to new Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen games. Add to that a successful marketing campaign with lots of social media hype and YouTube exposure helped by the games flashy colourful graphics its no wonder it was initially successful.Like it or not, X: Rebirth was reported to be their best selling title.
Shiney pew-pew = money, sadly.
Anyway, I've got high hopes for X4 (loved X3). I rarely pre-order but I'm tempted for this one.
