Just set up my Live account, and I started to play COD2.

Game hung about 2 minutes into training.
Then thought i'd try it on its side. Hung after 30seconds

Any ideas?

my COD2 hangs quite often(not as soon as yours though), and glitches when smoke is onscreen, but only if i play on a HDTV. Odd eh? :)

Going to try Condemned now, Xbox 360 is on the floor. Room isn't that warm..

Not on carpet I hope?

I would try the 360 with literally nothing else surrounding either the console or power brick, and with both on a flat surface, to eliminate any possible overheating problems first.

Tis on carpet yes :(

I'll put it on the glass TV stand. Will that be better?
Block is already ventilated

Well thing just hung again, with the block ventilated and the Xbox360 on the glass TV stand (flat not standing)..

anymore ideas??

blow on it really hard. :D

no seriously, try turning the heating/radiator down see if that helps with a lower ambient room temp, sounds like you could have a overheater.

What the hell am I going to do during summer then?

This thing will be going back if this continues :(

Afraid to say, sounds like an M$ job. :(

My power supply is on the carpet, and ive had no issues, its in an open space to.

Yeah well if it's overheting then it's faulty so send it back, only way to find out is to lower the ambient temp and see if it still does it.

I've seen a few articles claiming folk in warmer climates have had LOTS of overhaeting issues.

Well windows have been flung open. Will let the temperature drop a bit, then try again :(

I played Condemned for 10 minutes no problems. So could it be a problem with the COD2 disc??

Send it back. I did with mine and have not had a single problem since (touchwood). It's as it should be.

I doubt it's a heat issue...i'm sure there's something more sinister going on with the first batch of 360s. The number being returned is pretty darn high.

Is there no chance it could be the game?
Especially if Codemned works fine..

I have a 2nd copy of COD2 here that I bought from Game (I bought it first, then bought a cheaper copy at Tesco). So I could try it out.. would mean breaking the shrink wrap though :D

I had to replace my first 360 too; so agree with Tried&Tested's comments.

Hate to say it but at 480P I've never had a single hang or problem with COD2; and it took some serious punishment.

Is your 360 new? It could be an acclimatisation problem. Could need a good few hours to get to the ambient temperature.

Come to think of it, my Xbox360 had been in the car all day, so was probably very cold. Will keep trying!

Got the 2nd version of COD2 to try now!

Nope, 2nd copy of COD2 just hung.. so that's the disc eliminated!

Will try again after dinner, then i'm getting it swapped :(

leave the dashboard on and running for a while the console will be warm but not hot from stress from playing a game. Let it warm up for a while then try, i left mine in my room for a few hrs as it was freezing when i got it.
