Xbox 360 already hanging

leave the dashboard on and running for a while the console will be warm but not hot from stress from playing a game. Let it warm up for a while then try, i left mine in my room for a few hrs as it was freezing when i got it.

Will leave it going while I have my dinner.

I've realised my Woolies receipt says I can return if the item is faulty.. might just do that rather than have the hassle of MS collecting it.

if they still have em in stock be a lot quicker if not sure ull get ya money back and u can pick one up some where else. I know ure proberly put off by it but its fantastic bit of kit when up and running :)

Probably more than we realise. When i rang DHL to pick up my xbox the guy couldn't have been more blunt about the high numbers they are picking up.

And thats making me think about hanging off until they get the thing sorted. Like when XP came out let all the guinee pigs iron out the flaws ;)

What worries me most is the number of people who will be left with a faulty lump in 12 months once the warranty runs out. I mean I still have my original master system but i'm not confident a 360 will last 3 years.

If i where you i would wait until at least march, thats when they are ment to be coming into regular supply, by then it should be a pretty slick process knocking them out.
Mines i think is starting to go, screen goes black for a couple of seconds every now and then, but gonna live with it hopefully until the next batch are out.

My brick is always on the carpet and about 12 " away from radiator which is obviously on in this weather the room is well warm and I have not had any problems whatsoever at all none nil zilch bugger all.

my wireless adapter for the 360 is on the 360 under the tv on the tv cabinate surrounded by wires not pointed up but sideways cos it wont fit upright and still got 100% signal...

Am I just stupid or lucky?:p

We keep bringing this chestnut up.
All goods sold to you have to meet the Sale of Goods act which states that they must be of a reasonable quality and free from defects for up to 6 years.
If after 18 months my 360 goes bang I WILL be getting a replacement or refund from GAME as it is my legal right.

Huh so why the need for extended warranties? Do you have a link to this information?

There isn't a need for extended warrantied but most do now include "accidental damage" cover which they did not used to. However most household insurance policies cover that kind of thing.

http://www.dti.gov.uk/ccp/topics1/facts/salegoodsact.htm

Key Facts:

• Wherever goods are bought they must "conform to contract". This means they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality (i.e. not inherently faulty at the time of sale).

• Goods are of satisfactory quality if they reach the standard that a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory, taking into account the price and any description.

• Aspects of quality include fitness for purpose, freedom from minor defects, appearance and finish, durability and safety.

• It is the seller, not the manufacturer, who is responsible if goods do not conform to contract.

• If goods do not conform to contract at the time of sale, purchasers can request their money back "within a reasonable time". (This is not defined and will depend on circumstances)

• For up to six years after purchase (five years from discovery in Scotland) purchasers can demand damages (which a court would equate to the cost of a repair or replacement).

Note also that it is the shop who sells you the item who is responsible for fixing it, NOT THE MANUFACTURER.

Gota be something strange going on there with the 360, Condemned works fine, yet 2x copies of COD2 have crashed on it, if the 2nd copy of COD2 worked fine, then yeah dodgy disc, but not 2x copies surely, id definately take it back, COD2 should work on it, lots of other ppl are playing it fine.

Very strange.
Is COD2 more graphically intense somehow than Condemned?

Not that I know of & I've finished both (100% see sig).

I agree with LoadsaMoney; go get it replaced tomorrow but this time

>> let it sit for 2 to 3 hours in your house to acclimatise etc before switching it on <<

Lol, couldn't resist the emphasis ;)

Good luck with the exchange.

I presume that if you bring a console indoors into a warm room, from outside where it's been sitting in freezing temperatures for hours, and turn it on straight away, permanent damage could be done to the electronics? That's what I've always thought anyway which is why I let hardware I buy acclimatise before powering it up.
