Xbox 360 graphics

The XBOX 360 isn't something I've been looking into a lot TBH - if at all. However, I was wondering if you can actually connect an XBOX 360 to a Standard PC flat screen or something - via (special?) cable - and if so, at what resolution?

yeah, just i played Oblivion on 360 and it wasnt laggy at all i assumed you were getting lag because you had no hdd to cache it on :)

but obviously i was wrong..
 
The price thing doesnt make sense as to play a game on a 360 that looks as good as a PC you need a very good TV and they are not cheep.
Ive played COD2 on 360 and my rig and the PC version in my opinion wins hands down, not just graphically but in playability.
I play flight sims and games like RTW and for me a 360 will never be able to do those kind of games as well as a PC. As for FEAR and Quake4, well i spose in a year or so the 360 will be up there but ATI and NVidia will have newer stuff out but for me you cant beat a keyboard and mouse for FPS.

But it wont be able to do pc stuff anywhere near as good because it isnt powerfull enough and the hard drive is very small and since all the components are custom there wont be drivers for them. So it would be crippled as a pc.

well im sure the 3 cores running at 3.2ghz each and the xenos gpu will be good enough for hd video playback and mpeg4 video playback, web browsing, playing mp3's running office apps similar to word, excel etc, playing emulator games etc.

im gonna get the xbox 360 since once its opened up i can do lots more with it than just play games.
i would go out and get one tomorrow but im worried about the overheating issues i read about the consoles a while back. not sure if they have been resolved now though. :confused:
 
strange? i read on many sites that people were complaing that the xbox360 has overheating issues.
are you sure that it does not suffer from heat problems?

Yes its powerfull enough for that even though the current hard drive will only fit one hd movie on, assuming that the apps used to play the videos are capable of supporting triple core cpus and the os can even support this new custom cpu and hardware, and you have a keyboard and mouse and hdtv. But it certainly isnt a full blown pc and is impractical because most people already have a pc anyway which can do much more and probably have it in the same room if not next to the 360, and then microsoft will probably stop people with chips playing on live.

You don't need a HDTV though. Just get a VGA cable (~£15) and hook it up to your pc monitor, bang there you go HDTV quality without the cost.

As I see it for the cost v performance aspect as a gaming machine the 360 wins hand down over the pc. (yes the pc can do some much more but most people have a pc anyway so if you want to type a document use that)

I am slightly confused with your comment on COD2 :confused: . Yes it looks better on the pc (well it does on mine at least) but the gameplay / playability is identical. (I have it on both systems)
 
These arguments seem pretty bizarre to me. A PC and a games console aren't really comparable items. A PC can do everything a games console can do, plus a lot more, but at a much higher cost. Two different products, two different markets. Sure, they use similar hardware, but that's not the point. Even the games tend to be different, though there is increasing crossover.
 
yeah i completely agree, this is like compairing an apple and a banana, then going and saying something weird like 'if a banana tasted like an apple i would buy one...' whats the point, why not just get an apple, same as people saying if 360 could support mouse and keyboard, and plug into monitor they would choose over a PC, why not just stick with the venerable PC, and am i right in saying 360 and PC use two completely different CPU architectures?

At the end of the day xBox 360 and Playstation 3 would not have graphics card as powerful as they are if it weren't for the PC market paving the way for these new technologies.

It's us lot whom care about PC Games a lot to want to buy the newest GFX card which makes these console's to powerful. The console companies went to nVidia and ATi because they knew they had the best GFX technologies which came about from us buying the bestest new gear every 6 months or so.

Thats my ten pence :).

Depends how you look at it, i myself prefer to play on the pc compared to a console.

Only game i play on the console is Pro Evo.
