Just got my self a nice new 32" Hd tv and want a console to play on it. What would you recomed out of the two (not to into the whole wii thing, maybe as a second console but not my only one)?

Havent got a DVD player so the import PS3 might be a problem with the whole DVD reigon thing. Is there any way around that? Also how much is the PS3 going to be when released?

Thanks people for any help, its got me in a right state when I need to be doing revision, lol. sad isnt it!

Easy decision.

360.

As for the PS3 having a better catalogue of games in the near future.......It aint gonna happen.

Can't think of many PS3 exclusives that are due out this year tbh.

You will need to look at each console, it's current library, and it's upcoming titles and make a decision for yourself.

The 360 fans here will say 360.
The PS3 fans here will say PS3.

You'd be mad not to get a 360 at the moment, save yourself the £2-300 and see what develops later on in the year..

Just FYI, AFAIK imported PS3's have warranty issues don't they???

Go 360 just now and enjoy it.

If you have spare cash, as the above posts say, pick up a PS3 if you feel like it at a later date.

I've always been a ps fan, but couldn't wait for the ps3 and all the bad reports etc, but went for a 360 so so so so glad i did. Especially now that a lot of ps3 only games are now coming on 360 there aint much point expect for blueray which I personally don't think is going to win the format war anyway.

360

-Xbox Live is mint
-Great range of games with more to come
-Loads of extras for console (albeit to buy)

The PS3 should still be a good system, but personally id wait until the games can easily be accessed and the console itself is established in the UK. At least if you buy a UK made one youll not void the warranty.

Not really.

From what i can tell you will pay a premium for the ps3 with little games library and some compatibility issues.

The 360 is established, cheaper, has a warranty, a large games library. By the time you have made your way through most of the decent games, the ps3 will be largely available and have a more established games library than launch.

Either trade in the xbox or keep it and buy the ps3.

Seems simple to me. Unless you are one of those types who must have the latest thing.

Personally I'd get the ps3, though as much as i loved import gaming in the hayday, i'd wait for an official UK console.. Since you've got a HD tv you will make good use of the blu-ray player and the discs are region coded, so unless you want to buy import blu-rays i'd wait.. it's only a few weeks away.. BESIDES the excitement of getting one shouldn't be dis-regarded. There's a lot of fun in the wait and anticipation.

If you go out and buy a 360, once you've seen a ps3 you'll be a little disappointed with your 360. It feels a LOT cheaper and well just not as good as the ps3.

Last i heard the PS3 was region free? Could well be wrong

Since you've got a HD tv you will make good use of the blu-ray player

How does having an HDTV take advantage of blu ray? Surely the graphics are only as good as the console can produce, not how large the capacity of the disk is?

it's only a few weeks away..

Its not only a few weeks away for the release, its sometime in March, and as far as I know there has been no official pricing released for the PS3 yet?

If i buy a 360, why would you be disappointed? Its has a much better range of games, personally i find the controller more comfortable, and it has vibration which IIRC Sony got rid of over the SIXAXIS or whatever its called. Also, the 360 has Xbox Live, which yes you have to pay for, but its worth it big time. If you want to be online with a console then go 360.

The PS3 has a large game list, but most are due for release in Dec2007.

Even then most the release dates are probably incorrect.

I lol'd, try again harder fanboy.

PS3 could be pushed back as far as September some rumours suggest, why buy a console that has far less games, not many to look forward to as of yet and doesn't even have a warranty?! It's beyond stupid if you ask me, it's like risking wasting what, 500 odd quid?

quantity over quality.

not many games to look forward too if you are a blind fanboy

doesn't have a warranty??? all electronics in the UK sold must come with a stat 12months.. UNLIKE the US where they only gave the 360 90 days, until the whole country realised they were being ripped off, as the 360 is historically so unreliable that 1in4 die within 12 months.. Thankfully for me who's also a 360 owner, Microsoft have now upped the warranty to 12months to match the PS3..
