A day in VIRII's office.

Underling : So what shall we do today?
VIRII: Lets test this tank for quality
Underling: Howe do we do that?
VIRII: Well the first test is to see how many hell fire missiles it can withstand...

Well it is a little bit like that sometimes, but I don't get to blow things up like that. Perhaps if I changed firm though hehehe.

I'm in that kinda situation.I'm planning on getting either a 360 or PS3 after June(when I've finished my exams cos I know if I get one now I wouldn't revise! :p ) I was a big fan of PS, had both PS1 and PS2, and loved it. Was eagerly waiting for PS3 but I thought about was talking to my friend about PS3 and 360 and he raised some very good points and with that I shall be getting the 360. Why?Cos its so much cheaper than the PS3 yet has better or on par in terms of graphics, great catologue of games, great controller(played my mates 360) it just makes sense.

Looking around on the net theres 360 Premium bundles that go for £270 with a free game and 2 wireless controllers. How much is the PS3 gonna cost?£425 thats £155 diff and thats just for the console  Add on a game, hdmi cable and controller it be around £550 making a diff of £280. How much is a 26" HDTV?£360 from OcUK? I can nearly buy a HDTV if I buy the 360!

Edit/ This makes me sound like a true MS fanboy doesn't it? :o :p

course you don't ;)

Some people do test fire missiles. Not me though and not this company. However missiles and their various components DO need a variety of other testing to ensure they will survive for example:

Heat, Storage, Humidity, Vibration, Shock and so on. Test firing a missile is very expensive. So for arguments sake let's say the missile is GPS guided and has a section that houses the GPS and associated electronics for the guidance system. You test that section independently to ensure that it survives the sort of testing above.
That's more what I do. There are lots of specifications for the various types of testing and with experience you are relied upon to guide the "customer" towards the right types of testing.
On the downside of course if I certified something for say a commerical aircraft and it went wrong I'd be likely to go to court. My work is also scrutinised by external bodies regularly to make sure I'm not dodgy.

I'd love to test fire a few missiles though because although component and assembly level testing is vital you can't avoid having to test the final complete assembly as well.

I love my job :)

You don't sound like a fanboy at all. You sound like a person who will buy a console after you have thought through loigically and has made a decision based on what is beneficial to you. (ie the cost is a factor you need to take into consideration).

Easy decision.
360.
As for the PS3 having a better catalogue of games in the near future.......It aint gonna happen.
Can't think of many PS3 exclusives that are due out this year tbh.
Whilst I am getting a PS3 I have to agree with this. And even when the PS3 exclusives do come out, are any of them really better than the Xbox360 ones?

I'm not quoting all of you, as there seem to be to many to reply to regarding my beef with MS - this is a subject which strangley seems to really wind some of you non MS fanboys up, as I have learnt on other threads.

It's not something I want to discuss on here as it will no doubt just turn it into a flame war with people saying that I'm obviousley stupid not to buy a 360 just because of how I feel about MS. I'm not asking for anyone to agree with me, so lets take it as red that I don't really like MS as a company for my own bizzare reasons and leave it at that.

Now move along, move along... nothing to see here.

Fair enough :)

They might not be better but they will be different to the 360 exclusives. If they are on par with the 360 ones then the PS3 would be a worthy purchase. I have no doubt that GT, Final Fantasy etc will be great games :)

I was listening to the 1up show podcast yesterday and there is talk about GT5 having a fairly decent crash engine. That would definately rekindle the interest in that title if true.

360 is the boss, ps3 *** get a lot better with *** games line up but resident evil 5 on 360, what more *** u ask for lol

After reading these forums for a while I have to say it's kind of a shame that Joebob doesn't have a 360, as I think he would give us a very good view of both consoles:-/

I haven't got either at the moment but I would go for the PS3. I love RPG's and the Playstation 2 has them in abundance. The PS1 was the same and I would imagine the PS3 will be no different.

It's a shame as I would like to get an XBOX as well but with only one RPG so far it's not a good sign :(

Xbox360 has:

Enchanted Arms (I think that's a RPG)

and upcoming games are IMO 2 of the most promising RPGs that are getting released within the next year:

Blue Dragon
Lost Odyssey

Yes, Enchanted Arms is correct and a couple more will be no way near what will come out on the PS3. I suppose with the Playstation coming from Japan there seems to be more interest in RPG's.

I hope that the XBOX starts bringing out some Japanese style RPG's. ;)

I'll check out Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey to see what their about.

Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey are made by some of the team that worked on the Final Fantasy games.
