Picked up an 360 from comet today, got it home, downloaded the BF2 demo, played for 5 mins, all OK. Downloaded tomb raider demo but didnt play it. Popped in my Gotham3 for a first go and after 5 mins twice in a row i get massive corruption like and oc'ed graphics card.

I really hope (and expect) they will just swap it for a new one tomorrow with no bs.

Ive got a months gold (paying 4.99) and its got my CC card details on it now, can i ask to keep my HD and swap it for the new one on exchange? Will this even work or is hardware ID used somehow? I have no memory card.

Any advice would be appreciated.
Its all stored on the server side. You might want to delete everything and restore factory defaults before you take it back though just in case ;)

Thanks for the advice.

I took it back this morning and they let me swap over the harddrive so i was quite pleased, took about 30 mins off messing around but atleast they didnt bother testing it.

Got home with the new console, powered up, no picture on screen and the pad didnt connect, just keep flahing all quadrants RAAAHHHHHHH :(

One hour later i arrive back in the store, this time they do test it and get the same results on two TV's, again they swap it and let me keep my HD, took around 40mins this time.

At least number 3! SEEMS to work ok so far, but im not atall impressed with the MS Testing/QA of the machines, very poor imo. Also all the returns must be costing MS a fortune!

Edit: No idea what the faulty machines Date was but this one is 05-02-2006

Well im on my way to get my 360 replaced because it keeps random freezing on me, and its getting right on my wick now. Happened a month or more ago the first few times on PGR but now its happening on the new Fifa and burnout revenge at just random times, can run fine for a couple of days and then die 2-3 times in an hour.

Annoyed with my 360 saga. It is as follows;

360 Died 3 weeks ago with 3 red lights.

Microsoft failed to get courier out 3 times because of internal errors with communication. Each time told they would resend labels.

Got tired of it so went through Gameplay.

New 360 arrived Saturday just gone.

New 360 was set up on Monday.

New 360 died on Monday with 3 red lights.

New 360 is somewhere on way back to Gameplay.

Will see what the outcome is soon...

Those problems are caused by the HDD, my friend had issues putting his HDD back in after mine was in.

That was one of my thourghts aswell, i did try it without the HD in and still had the same issues, and also when i get back home with xbox 3 it booted up first time with my orignal HD no probs.

Mines died now, bought day 1 was made on the 2nd of Oct 2005. The console was 100% problem free till saturday and it just went mental!:O hanging at random and it got not so random :( so its aweh to ups! do i get freebes ?:)

Is mine the only original day one still going? :D

Mine was going fine until this evening. I'm having trouble even booting it now....

It's been locking up randomly all evening and now it's just starting to boot up then freezing completely.

from the way mine "went" it looks like the coolent packed it in on the memory ive had the "checkers" many times before always when im clocking a card memory

Mines still chugging along, had it since dec last yr.

Knowing my luck ill go home and find it wont work or turn on anymore:(:p...im actually waiting for it to blow up.....hehe..would like ot get a quieter one if possible lol.

Pft....Poor git State side only on his 4th one say IGN....I'm sure there was a poor chump on AVForums with his 5th and a guy on xbox360faults.co.uk with his 6th

I personally am on my 3rd......Whats worrying me about the 3rd one though is it is a refurb.....Tried to Register it on XBox.com and it says it's already Registered :/ :o

mine is generally ok.

DOA4 - Works Perfectly
perfect Dark - Works Perfectly
Fifa WC - game lags every couple of matches though only for replaying.
Hitman - freezes at least once in a gaming session.
King Kong - Works Perfectly.

The Console itself doesn't seem to be overheating and my lights are always green

as with all things

To Microsoft's credit, the 3% to 5% return rate is more information than Nintendo or Sony would share and the company has always been open and forthright with IGN

still using my launch machine, and also couldn't care less if it goes titsup either, i'll just get a replacement from the very helpful MS

Since swapping my cables to set my refresh rate as 60Hz I ocasionally get no red on my display, a quick fiddle with the cable sorts it and I've never had it happen in game.

Only done it a few times so far so touch wood all is ok or its just the cable.
