I'm on my third 360 (premium) which came today. Straight up. I only got my first one a month ago, so that's 3 in a month. Lifespan of just over a week per console. Absolutely appalling. I must have used each one about 5 hours total too. Microsoft need shooting far as I'm concerned, but I'll keep sending em back til I get a good one (I think the console/ games are great, when it works).

P.S. Didn't send my hard drive in with the last one, and the fools sent me a replacement console with a hard drive too, so now I have a spare! Sell or keep for extra storage, what u think???

Mad that so many people are having problems, mines been fine, but I am really careful in the way I treat my stuff and never had anything break bar my Playstation2 and that was due to Sony having faulty lasers in their drives.

Console replaced(premium) and they even gave me a new copy of Oblivion, which wasn't originally purchased from them.

<edit>
Lost all my saves though :(

Still on my first machine (Mfr date: 02-10-2005) i bought on launch day. Had the odd problem though. Full auto demo locks up frequently, and i'd say 2 or so random lock ups in other things. Completed burnout revenge (40 hours on save) and had 1 lockup in that. The only thing i get is just a hard hang, no guide no nothing just the game pauses and the machine is dead to all input, no sound. Due to it being rampant in full auto and 99% fine in everything else makes me feel my machine is good and it's just a dodgy demo.

Not a heat issue, can lock up on first try of full auto and survive many many hours of punishment in other games :D

Anyone else had lockups in full auto demo? Or had 360's die after doing something specific?

Hi console gamers! I come representing the PC gamers! I have 50 people ready to randomly vote in this poll.

Mwhahahahaha.

My demands are free pie for everyone!!!!!!

On a more serious note - its a bit shocking that 19% of you guys have had to take your 360's back. In your defense though M$ made 'em and stuck windows on there.

Amazing they don't blow up or melt your disks really. :p

I was considering buying a 360 but I think I need to look into this more.

yeah why does every1 bash MS, i love using windows, i find OS X confusing (although im not used to it so i cant really comment) i like microsoft as a company, they donate millions to causes. You forget the windows standardised everything, otherwise no pc games etc.

My wireless controller has decided to give up. Everytime it vibrates it switches its self off or say for instance i put it down on a hard surface, the slight knock on the pad will turn it off. Ive only had the control about 2-3 weeks and bought it seperatly from the console its self. Who am i better off contacting, microsoft or the place i originally bought it from?

Place you bought it from, they are legally obliged to either exchange it or refund you I think :)

Depnds how much of a hurry, If I wasn't desperate for another controller, I would ring microsoft support now. They will have a new one with you by saturday. You then just pack the old one into a box and set it to them with the reference number.

They told me they would send a new headset once I sent the old one back. But they sent me the new one before id even posted the old.

Great service, top notch.

I agree it's the greatest OS. People just want everything for free. Sure office is over priced but XP is value for money.

I used to game a lot on my pc. Ive run xp since about 03 ish and can honestly say the only crash i have ever had is a issue with Age of empires 2 which didnt like my gfx card drivers. Which isnt bad seeing as AOE2 wasnt made for XP. All other issues have been due to my own tinkering, not uncle Bill$.

XP has been as rock solid as it was advertised for me and just about everyone I know.

Not beer?? frickin pansies :p

Nah it seems to have really settled down now, if you read back a few pages you will see the results where very high early on, but i think it has settled down a fair chunk. Probably should be a seperate poll for people who have bought it within the past 2 months or sommit, when the steady supply started.

A Poll for dead within a week and dead after 3 months would be more interesting, purely to see how many are failing straight away and how many are "developing" faults as they're used.

Some people will have probably bought their 360, played it fine for a month and therefore voted in this poll only to find it gives up after 2 months or something.

21% failure rate is pretty surprising, though it's hardly an accurate snapshot of all 360 users.

Well my 3rd 360 is now with me.....Delivered today by UPS, they kindly left it with a neighbour.....

I just soooooooooo hope this is a case of 3rd time lucky.....It sounds quieter than my last one even though the Man. Date is more or less the same as my last one......

Time will tell :o

Picked up an 360 from comet today, got it home, downloaded the BF2 demo, played for 5 mins, all OK. Downloaded tomb raider demo but didnt play it. Popped in my Gotham3 for a first go and after 5 mins twice in a row i get massive corruption like and oc'ed graphics card.

I really hope (and expect) they will just swap it for a new one tomorrow with no bs.

Ive got a months gold (paying 4.99) and its got my CC card details on it now, can i ask to keep my HD and swap it for the new one on exchange? Will this even work or is hardware ID used somehow? I have no memory card.

Any advice would be appreciated.
