Xbox 360 Returns

Thanks Kennybhoy yeah i also think the fail rate is higher then 3% ive also seen a lot of posts. I aint got a clue what my fault is i had it for 4 days then shut down console usual way from dashboard shutdown console. Next day gone to play red light on power supply look like something borked in the 360 really strange.

Took my console away for xmas and as soon as I got back I had crashes (black-screen and turned off) when playing Kameo followed by 3 red-rings when I've turned it back on. I've had it working for hours at a time (can't seeem to work out what it is that gets it to work again) only to turn it off, do something else come back and be unable to get it working for hours+; it's currently flashing reds at me despite constant reconnections of the cables etc.

Before the trip it was working flawlessly since release, I'd packaged it well for the trip, but not well enough it seems...

The power supply seems to be fine (green despite the 3 red rings).

What ya gonna do. :)

Perhaps we could have a mini poll here then, it would give a representative albeit very small indication as to the percentage of faulty units.
Perhaps "my Xbox 360 works fine" or "my Xbox 360 is being RTM'd" would work.
Do we even have 5 units on the forums that have been RTM'd ?

I was going to suggest this myself can this be done please ?

There was a Poll on AVForums a while back.....At my last check 182 had done the Poll and 34 were broken.......I can't find it just now to see how it actually panned out :o :D

I would guess that people with faulty xboxes are googling "xbox 360 not working" for clues as to what is going on resulting in some inaccurate or skewed figures for faulty xboxes.
I would be extremely suprised if the figure was over 5% and not limited to a couple of specific batches on the whole.

I've not seen the AV forums poll, but the general problem with any internet poll is that it wont represent anything properly in the end, as you'll always get the situation, for example:

PS3 fanboy comes along, sees Xbox360 poll and thinks "hmmm", then automatically says their Xbox360 is broken, and hence making the percentage a lot higher.

Personally I'd trust microsofts figures over any polls unless the polls were moderated with silly acuracy such as proof you have a 360 and proof yours doesn't work etc.

I agree it's very hard to gauge something like this with an Internet Poll.....I'm just basing my opinion on my personal experience and from people i actually know that have had trouble too...

I know 5 people personally who have a 360.....Myself included....Out of that 5.....3 of us have had to return our 360's.....That just smacks me as incredible and ofcourse reading various stories of other peoples unfortunate luck just creates the picture that it is a big problem BUT i undertsand the 1000's of people who have good systems ain't bombarding the Net with "Mines works" posts.....We will always read the bad posts....

I've had a XBox 1 since it's launch and i know more people than i care to count that have them and only 1 has had problems.....Their probably was loads of dodgy XBox's.....I just never heard of them :D

Just to add my bit: Contacted microsoft 7 days ago and reported my faulty 360 and not even received box to send it back yet :( just phoned em and they said it will be out on monday, I just hope they send me out a new one and not just send back this borked one pretending its fixed, like most companies do these days :(

Take a note of your b0rked ones Serial number......Check with replacement that it's different.......Unless they go to the trouble to swap them too :p ;)

I had terrible experience with xbox support, the people on the phones are so inexperienced and stupid, it took them 2 weeks to send the empty box to the right address, then they sent the replacement to the wrong address. I don't know why they kept getting addresses wrong as everytime i rang i made sure that they were sending to the right address

My xbox took 17 days to turnaround, took 8 days just for the box i believe.

Crazy really :)

But i still maintain that the service i recieved was very very good :)

Yeah when i got mine on Tuesday from Game the lass (who was well fit :D ) said if it buggers up then they'll swap it, assuming they have any that is as they are in short supply obviously. :)

Mine was made on the 3rd of Jan, don't know if that will make a difference to wether it will go or not though, as i thought it may be the earlier batches that were the main culprits.

Yeah I have actually took note of the number, also pen marked the console, discretely, but ill know if its the borked one anyway as the artifacts are so bad now... I learnt my lesson a few years ago when i had a faulty jvc camcorder, the gimps sent me the same unit back a total of 4 times without sorting the prob, i then marked the case screws and could tell that they were not even opening it up, they just kept sending it back to me with a note saying repaired, no fault..,, muppets..

By the way, my neighbour has just delivered my box,, the dhl bloke delivered it to her with a note on the box, saying,''could not locate address''??? Shame he couldnt see my door about 3 yards to the left of hers, lol, just makes you laugh doesnt it

Mine was picked up Tuesday, not had it back yet. I actually recieved the box from DHL the day after i called MS about the fault. Fingers crossed...i'm actually starting to miss PGR3 and the other games i've barely played!
