xbox dashboard update.

All my anime works. Axxo rips works. Even managed to have a good nights sleep because most of my "happy time" vids worked.

ummmmm, intresting, I've tried allot of divx videos and haven't noticed a thumbnail image on any of mine :(, that would be cool,

anyone else get thumbnail images of thier videos ?.

I heard you need a jpeg image named the same as the media file in the same folder.

Also can someone post what success they have had in playing h264 files?

Hate it, hate it, hate it, hate it, did i say i hate it?

Had the 360 on for 10 minutes, and it froze twice forcing me to restart it, its slow to log in, and lumpant to use. What wrong with the live arcade part as it was, its bloated and crappy now.

indeed, apart from video support I hate it

I've thrown 5 or 6 vids at it so far, from short clips to movies, and they've all worked for me. Still won't be ditching my Mac Mini as my media box though :)

Man after my own heart. Mac Mini is highly under rated as a media centre imo and the quietest computer I have ever used! Even quieter than laptops!!

as I've said before I'm loving the divx support but it's not without problems, I haven't switched off the 360 since I've installed the update as I'm basicly choosing to use the 360 as a media box instead of watching normal TV, problem is though the noise of the box on all the time is starting to do my head in, if the 360 was quiet it would be perfect as a media box, I'm so temped to rip it apart and mod it into a mini atx case.

Thats strange, I can play all my videos fine but I don't get an image/thumbnail of the video next to it's title, is that what your saying your getting ?, does anyone else get a thumbnail image of the video's in thier list.

Without a game in mine is whisper quiet.

From my experience it's taken from the first few frames of the video, so if the video starts out black then you just get a black thumbnail :p

There's no need for pictures in the same folder or anything like that.

I love the theory of it.... unfortunately the reality is nothing but a blank screen whenever I play a video (all videos). Only option is to hit Xbox button/Y to return to dashboard.
Strangely, prior to 'playing' the video, in the list of available videos, it does show an image of the video next to it's title.

Any videos I have tried playing so far have worked without a problem!! Obviously it must be the type of codec that they are encoded with! :)

You only get thumbnails if you stream from WMP11, in my experience. The Xbox doesn't have write capability for external USB2 hard drives so any files on there won't have thumbnails unless you create a JPEG picture and name it the same as the video filename.

Yeah mine is pretty quiet with no game in, not any louder than my old Xbox anyway which I use for streaming just now :) and probably quieter than my Dreamcast which I don't recall being slated for being too noisey :D

Same. But people like saying it's loud. Let them have some joy .

It is loud, and mine is a new one. Thats without anything in the drive. And it sounds the same as my brothers. That said, It's quieter than my friends, Who has the old revision.

It's the loudest console I've owned, Put it that way.

But then again, It's the most powerful console I've owned

I'm also getting thumbnails of all my movies but when I click on them it just freezes my console forcing me to reset it. That is through MC on Vista. Also none of my Axxo files work.

I guess it must be yeah, but it's a huge variety of stuff from many different sources, and they're all the same...
All I know is they're mostly, if not all, 'xvid' stuff.

I think the way you share our media plays a big part in it. I use WMP11 and also Vista Media Center.

I dont have anti virus software or a firewall. I just have 1 switch and my bt home hub.

Try a direct connection to your pc if you can. Other than that I wouldn't know.

Bah. I turn on my 360 to watch some Bleech. Wont connect to my computer... ok. So I load up WMP11 and get some crap about how the media sharing service has stopped or firewall settings have changed so I need to click OK to start it again. Still doesn't work. So I remove the 360 from the list thinking it should recognise it again and I can start a fresh. Nope... now it wont even list my 360. Great lol
