I think the quicker the hard core MS fans learn to accept they're playing second fiddle this time around, the easier it'll be for everyone. The Xbone is being universally panned all over the internet at the moment and will be for some time yet.

This generation is playing out in reverse to the last, the PS3 got absolutely & relentlessly trashed early on but eventually it all died down. Some would argue the PS3 turned out to be the better platform by the end of the last gen. All this talk of extra moderation for anything anti-Xbone is a little OTT, things will settle down... just give it some time.

Microsoft's terrible policies, shocking responses to the backlash, inferior spec console w/ a premium pricetag & forced non-essential accessory is going to draw some heat for a while to come.

Finally a rational post.

I still believe the issue is more to do with some Sony fans to be honest. I don't think any Xbox One owner will sit and tell you they think the XB1 is going to be better than the PS4, yet some PS4 owners are far too happy to shout about how much better it is.

I do understand it to some extent. The PS3 did get a lot of flak in the past, and some Sony fans will be glad for the chance to give some back. I have no problems with that, as long as it stays good natured, much like a lot of football banter does. Just like some football banter though, people on both sides of the arguments will cross the line and go too far, and that's what I have issue with. Like I said though, I hope it will settle down in time.

By and large there is actually little personal attacks (with a few recent exceptions).
I don't know why Xbox fans take Xbox criticism as a personal affront. It has nothing to do with the end users/posters here.
As another poster also said. MS is catching allot of heat for their disastrous decisions. The critics are aiming their criticism at MS, not the posters/end users here.
And quite frankly MS DESERVES the panning it received and continues to receive for it's anti-consumer stance. Do you not agree MS was trying to pull some really out of order BS?
The heat MS is getting is a GOOD thing. It means they and others will think twice about attempting to pull such BS again. Even if it drives MS out of the console business, someone else like Amazon will enter, and they will also think twice about trying to get away with BS.

Also I agree with the poster advising not to turn this forum into North Korea.
If you make special rules to favour Xboners then you risk killing this sub-forum.
It will be a case of the tail wagging the dog. If that happens the dog will find somewhere less restrictive.

lol

Snip..

Lol indeed. How many of those threads did you appear in, defending Xbox to the death?
MS is a corporation, you realise they do not actually care for you?

They tried to **** you with all there BS policies. Yet here you are defending them NON STOP. Maybe look up stockholm syndrome.

Not really, I was one of the few people who tried to see the future they were seemingly aiming for. Not all of it was ideal, and it certainly wasn't presented in a good fashion, but I believe I had an idea where they wanted to go. I honestly believe some of what they were proposing were genuinely good ideas, such as the family sharing of games (yes I know it was never 100% clear how it was going to work, let's not get into that now). I was very against the 24 hour online check in though, that was a bad idea from the start.

I would never, ever do favours for one side of an argument. I think people are misinterpreting what I would intend to do. All I would do would be clamp down on people who are very obviously posting comments to get a reaction, which tends to lead to threads getting trashed. Nothing more, nothing less.

The worst for me was the compulsory always on Kinect. Very 1984.

I think that is fair enough in principal, although I would just warn that it is a slippery slope so I would make sure to be as fair as possible.

Yes, I'll give you that one, though I always suspected it wouldn't be the complete case. If Kinect had to be plugged in and always on, you would've had to send the whole console back if your Kinect broke, and that made no sense.

Are you right in the head?

A: you created all those threads, within a VERY short period of time, most of the time I posted was correcting your "facts".

Sony is also a corporation, they don't care for you or anyone here, you know that don't you?..just like MS Apple Google etc.

They didn't "F" me with anything, what is wrong with you?..you have "buyers choice" you are not being FORCED To buy this console, anyone would think MS are going to kill your family the way you post.

Stockholm syndrome...why?...who's holding me captive?..do you even know what that is?

I honestly believe you have problems. I hope PS4/ Sony can solve them for you.

Oh, and ill ask, AGAIN, as you have not answered, why do you care?....why do you go out of your way to post so much of this?...what's in it for you, what do you feel you are getting from it?
All of those answers have to be considered against how much you seem to hate the XO/ MS, why would you go out of you way to know their business?

PS4 fanboys are a joke. I bought an XB1 and a PS4 both on launch day and I've used the PS4 for about three hours. The exclusives are pitiful. Killzone is actually dire and all the other games are cross platform so you might as well play them on PC.

Meanwhile I've been having loads of fun on Dead Rising and Titanfall.

You do realise that it goes both ways, right? Some people are interested in the PS4 exclusives and think they're great, some people are interested in the Xbox One exclusives and think they're great.

Both Xbox One and PS4 Fanboys are jokes, you're not doing a good job of not looking like Xbox One fanboy (I'm not saying you are, but you're doing what you're complaining others are doing).

As a completely impartial and almost completely uninterested observer, this forum could do with some firmer moderation. If the atmosphere is as toxic as even the Don is suggesting then the people causing that toxicity should be probated.

You obviously can't moderate your own behaviour so it should be moderated for you.

As Davey said, these people aren't breaking any rules, which makes it difficult (impossible) to moderate what's actually going on. Some moderators make up rules on the spot to suit their mood, ban someone and then will refuse to tell them the reason behind it, which is the wrong way to do things.

Davey clearly isn't the type to do this, which means rightly or wrongly, some people are able to skirt the rules and talk smack.

In effect it's a case of people asking others to be censored/banned/suspended for saying things that they don't like/want to hear.

These people are talking crap of course, but acting out because you've read something you didn't want to read isn't much better than those talking smack.

Problem with moderating this is that it'd be like trying to herd cats

There's a constant influx of bile and defence in both directions. How do you stay ontop of moderating that? I Imagine this thread would be 2 pages long if half the people in here could control the urges to argue and defend. Does Davey really delete 360+ posts?

Three things strike me at the moment.

1/ Mags has posted a sensible well reasoned post. GD will never belive it :)

2/Certain people continue to post in a disruptive manner clearly designed to stir things up and ilicit a response (stop taking the bait folks). They then try to justify it in the spirit of "discussion" when its the same old stuff.

3/ Its comical to see some of the usual suspects try to take the moral high ground and refer to the disruptive posters as "they". Self awareness folks, it's a beautiful thing. :)

Hang in there Davey, you're doing a good job in tough circumstances and the vast majority of the section appreciate having a real gamer as a mox.

You probate the people filling this sub-forum with bile. If your input is not useful and is clearly antagonistic then the admins make a rule that those two things, combined, are probatable. This then becomes a Thing That You Do Not Do.

Fanboy 1 posts some rubbish and gets suspended for three days and the thread is closed. This stops the 17 pages of nonsense that seem to be on a Groundhog Day circular loop round here. Fanboy 2 starts a celebratory thread about fanboy 1 being suspended and is himself suspended.

Posters learn what is and is not acceptable very quickly when they themselves cannot contribute or even see these forums.

If the atmosphere in a forum is not how people want it to be and they cannot or will not moderate their own input to better that atmosphere then you either (a) end up with what you have right now (hint: it's awful, it's actually painful to read), or (b) introduce a new mindset backed up with enforceable rules.

Just as an aside and drawing from very personal experience, it is extremely hard to be a idiot when you are not given the privilege to post on the forum you want to be an idiot on.

I don't think comments like this help. You realise the vast, vast majority of gamers buy 1 console right? It's the same with a lot of products.

Anyway, RTM'd. comments like these are the ones that spawn arguments.

rp2000

Jesus christ, it was just a very sarcastic post, hell even Sony said get a second job when they spoke about the PS3.
