**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

dedicated servers for every multiplayer game rather than the notoriously fragile practice of hosting matches on one participant’s console; even multiplayer matches that can grow to 64, even 128 participants, rather than the usual limit of 16 or 32.

Nice :D

People forget that games console are dead in the water, this isn't the 80's or 90's anymore, you can buy games on your phones and tablets, they are cheap as chips (cheaper than chips at my chippie! 69p for a game?!) and time passes by just the same.

I'd like to see numbers proving that people are giving up playing Call of Duty/Halo/Fifa/whatever on consoles because they can now play Angry Birds on their phone.

I think it much more likely that mobile gaming has expanded the market into those that didn't game before, much like Wii.

No I mean how does it actually change channel
ermmmmm.. special magic...???? :)

Dunno - can you do 2 way control via HDMI? I assume it works a bit like the Vierra or Regza link stuff between TVs and the same companies bluray boxes etc. I could be making that up though.

In my opinion, there is so much drivel and rubbish on the TV that I watch it less and less. I now play games and watch other people playing games and listen to the radio more than TV. I probably see one hour a week of TV! :D

then the ability to see what the entire xbox live community like might be of interest to you?

I've just watched the reveal again hoping to find something to get excited about but seriously what were they thinking with that disaster of a reveal.

I know they want to keep stuff for E3, but that did nothing to promote it for gamers and for an "international" reveal it was clearly aimed at the US market.

The thing I got from watching it the 2nd time around was that there was no enthusiasm, the guy at the PS4 event who talked about the system and the controller was wierd but you got a genuine sense of enthusiasm from him and he seemed proud of the system. The feeling I had from MS was they were almost embarrassed by it, where was the boasting over specs? are they not good enough to even justify a little more time, I did notice that they just called it 8GB RAm instead of the GDDR3 which would have been easier to compare to the better RAm in the PS4.

I don't care what the console looks like tbh which is why I wasn't to bothered by not seeing the PS4

I'm a fan of the Forza series so I will be getting one on release for that but I feel really disappointed tonight. I wanted to see a gaming console not another way to watch and control a TV.. I hope they up their game for E3 or they deserve to loose the core gamers to the PS4.

Well it's clearly going up against whatever the next iteration of Apple TV is and the stuff built into new TV's. Personally I want something with a controller that plays games more sophisticated than Temple Run. The question is whether Microsoft can leverage the Xbox brand to force their way into dominance of the home media hub market via gamers or not - the problem is if they overplay their home hub position too strongly, they are at risk of alienating their core supporters. Of all the tribes, I suspect hardcore console gamers are fairly tolerant to having multiple devices.

Still, the story told today was about home hub and mass-market FIFA & COD players. There were some SERIOUSLY mixed messages about Spielberg executive producing some sort of Halo TV show which I really didn't understand (it's cool, but not sure what that has to do with Xbox).

What's your view on the XBOX One ability to offload compute to massive cloud compute resources. They reported increasing dedicated servers from something like 15,000 on current live services to 300,000 servers to allow developers to use cloud compute power.

Are they going to be used in the same way that SimCity is using at the moment?

From cool innovative design and then back to VHS player design. Is it me or does the Xbox One console seem to be two boxes joined together lol.
