**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Is this confirmed anywhere?

I notice a lot of people here very upset that that sharing x 10 was removed even though MS never factually stated how it worked, but some here have "assumed" how it would work!

Personally, I can't see how you can defend or promote a feature that no-one has even understood anyway!!!

Check my post a bit further up the page. That's about as conclusive as any evidence on it is.

It's clear that it wasn't quite the open free sharing they made out though by the sounds of things.

I can't believe that drama Ms created with the xbox one. To be honest a lot of it probably just down to people not understanding things properly. Ms probably never set out to cause such a stir but the damage they seem to have done to themselves is huge.

I'm buying a ps4 due to the price point and the none compulsory kinect but I'll still consider the xbox if the games turn out great.

I love all the excitement when new consoles come out, just a shame Ms blew it so fast lol.

Who on earth is making the decisions at MS. Imagine the fuss when people that backed them found out family mode was a demo with a game save.

Lots and lot's of people at MS need a new job.

I think the resounding success of Win8 and Surface has made them complacent :p

I think they shouldve stuck to their guns.

This U turn makes them look like complete liars. So the X1 doesnt require/need an internet connection after all.

They said it needed an internet connection as part of their policy, all they have done is changed policy. Not exactly lying.

They also said it needed a constant connection as all if not most games require a connection to the cloud.

What happened to the "If you want an offline console, get a 360" suggestion?!

exactly. it was there to make sure you had the correct licences for the games. i have no idea where people got, it has to be online alllllll the time.

Did they not say that games would not work unless connected to the net? Like I said before, I just feel as though they shouldve stuck to their original plan.

They said once is passed the once in 24 hours online check and it wasn't connected then yes you wouldn't be able to play. That is how I understood it to be in which case you could play 23 hrs 59 mins offline before needing to reconnect.

I don't think they should have uturned like they did though I also think they shouldn't have left it like it was. A middle ground would have been the best option and one I hope they still go for. Instead of almost forcing DD and the DRM have it as an option, if your offline use the disc, if your online and the game is installed it will play with online check. I said it before too but if the give a choice of disc or DD but the DD is better in some way (cheaper, more content etc) then I think people would voluntarily choose DD. There wasn't (or atleast in the info released didnt appear) a way not to have the checks and drm and it was this forcing of it that got so many peoples backs up.

As it stands I'm not getting this. It's just too shambolic and I don't think I can trust anything from their statements.

I'll try and get a try on ps4 controller before committing but MS have left a bad taste in my mouth

Who on earth is making the decisions at MS.

Not a single gamer is in charge of any console side stuff, sure the people who make it might be but not the decision makers.

then they wonder what people are upset about, it's because they have 0 passion for games the only thing that fuels this industry now is greed* anyone who expects decent hardware/software** these days is a moron...sorry but that's the truth.

*profit and greed are entirely different things, the gaming industry can still be worth billions without the greed, easily.
**some stuff is awesome, but it's still greed driven. DLC for example (especially stuff that is already on the disc)

MS's problem was 2 fold - they didn't give us enough information, and what they did give wasn't the whole picture. If they had been completely up front about everything from the start, it would've saved them a lot of trouble.

well, i think some games yes. as they were essentially constant multiplayer games. as far as i understand. they talked about their cloud service. there are 2 problems that i can think of at the moment that they haven't explained properly.

so as you said for these games what happens when you aren't say for your forza drivertard. titanfall is meant to be a persistant online game isn't it ? i heard an interview with the guys making it. one thing that they only really stated was that it would allow them not to have to worry about sorting out servers in a specific zone, say japan or what ever. but i guess thats early days so in the future people might make use of some extra power. but then as you said. will have to be connected all the time.

also, what happens to multiplatform games ? so the cloud i guess might give them extra goodness. but what happens on the ps4 ???
