**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

I don't think it'll be that much of a decrease, but if they can drop the Xbox by £50 or so, the extra £30 it'll cost over the PS4 will be much less of an issue I think, as people would be more inclined to give the new Kinect a chance for £30.

Yeah tbh I was going to buy it no matter what, but it would be nice if we say some kind of drop, a lot of my friends are put off of it due to the price.

I'd like to see The Division as well, but as it's still not due for at least another year, I wouldn't be surprised if it were a no show.

I just think it looks like an interesting premise, and slightly different from the normal stuff we get. Plus the E3 stuff really whet my appetite for the game so even if they showed 30 seconds of the game it would be better than nothing! :)

Oh absolutely, I thought it was the game of E3 for me, it looks exactly my kind of game. If it models the whole of Manhatten, plus some of Queens and Brooklyn (which the map at the end of the demo suggested), if it has a deep skill tree to go through, if the missions are varied, and if the PvP is exciting, it could be the game that dominates my game time for months on end, especially if I can get a good group of friends to play it with. It looks like a game where communication is key, so having friends will be a huge advantage.

I wonder as well if you can have different characters in it, specialising in different roles like support or sniper. That would be freaking awesome! :D

I'm looking forward to The Division, but I suspect it'll end up being like Battlefield; looks great in the developer-controlled gameplay demos, but is ultimately spoiled by other people.

Yup, Xbox One for me, predominantly for Dead Rising 3 and Forza 5. I'll undoubtedly pick up a PS4, but it won't be till next year at some point. I'll give it some time and let the price drop, and then I'll have a great back catalogue to work through (especially looking forward to Infamous: Second Son).

Forza 5 does look fantastic :)

That's possible, but as the game isn't completely PvP, there will hopefully be a lot of PvE to keep the game fun. I think it'll all depend on the rewards you get for killing other players, and what you may lose. If all you get is XP, then it won't be so bad if you get killed and don't lose that awesome gun you just found. If you can lose loot for being killed by other players, then that'll make PvP much more common.

It would be nice if they had some way of filtering what server you're on, so if you want a PvP heavy game you can join one, and if you want something less busy, you can have that as well.

Anyone else expecting something big from MS at Gamescom this month? They have their conference before Sony, and considering the way that backfired at E3, I'm expecting something special from them to try to claim back more ground.!
It's a bit of a problem isn't it. Sure they get to announce stuff first which is good but so far every time they announce anything for XO Sony stay quiet and then subsequently have plans A,B & C in place to counter anything MS say.

If I was running the XO PR I'd be desperate now to let Sony go first just so I could respond with something to trump them for a change.

MS are secure enough financially, some kind of astonishing launch offer for pre orders would be good to see. No, the XO launch price isn't changing but we're pleased to announce the "day one bundle" also includes COD, DR3 & Forza 5 along with 1 year family Xbox Live gold." :) ;)

Not going to happen but would be good to see. Having said that the sentiment on some of the forums and press would turn that from a great launch deal for Xbox customers into "Microsoft panics at poor sales and give stuff away free in a desperate attempt to get someone to buy XO". Having set the tone with some poor PR at the reveal and E3 they're in a tough place.

What I'm yet to be convinced of is that the pre orders are bad. At least one market analyst has published research that suggests XO will have 2-3 x the stock available for launch of PS4 based on supply chain information. If PS4 is truly sold out already it suggests lower numbers available for launch rather than massive success. If Sony can't sell any more launch consoles now they've nothing to gain for the next three months whilst XO potentialu has 3 months more of having pre orders for next gen console to itself!

Be interesting to see how it pans out, I suspect the XO "negative" press is only going to be overturned if it turns out they have good PR order/launch sales figures. I suspect XO will do well in the US and UK, less so in Europe and the far east (not least because they won't launch in Japan straight away).:)

Are there any good cashback deals to be had on an Xbox One pre-order? I've been with Quidco for years now - can't say I've really bothered to use it, as most of the purchases I've made have never been eligible!

Hardware is generally excluded from cash back offers.
Yup, or the percentage is so low as to not make any real difference. I'd rather pay normal price to get the console from one of my usual stores, then save 1-2% to get it from somewhere else that may not be as reliable.

Hmm, best that seems around, is 6% cash back from the Microsoft Store (making it about £404).. BUT it seems that a lot of people have had issues with Microsoft denying the cash back?!

Think I'll just not bother and use my Nectar points instead!

As i said ealier in the thread, its the only time in the next 6-7 years that the high street will get any money off me. I dont like the idea of not getting the thing when im ment to cause royal mail have used it as a football. So the highstreets only games retailer gets circa £500 from me at gouging rates for my first 2 games and the console.

Hope it lasts them the next 7 years or they are going to need bailing out again. Thats what happens when you buisness model is selling over priced second hand games.

After totalling up the amount it is going to cost me on launch date for the console, additional controller and 5 launch titles I have started to put some money down on pre-orders so that the purchase isn't too bad. I think I have now probably put enough down to pay for at least 2 maybe 3 games. Then add on another £100 of points waiting to be spent then it isn't going to be too bad for me. I just want to know when the thing is being released now and if they plan on doing a wireless headset. I just don't like the wired headset it just feels too restrictive.

I have a wireless headset for my 360 but I am guessing these will not work with xbox one, or at least I haven't seen anyone confirm they will work.

It just seems odd that they haven't announced one yet. (Maybe one will be announced at gamescom)

Agreed, the older 360 ones were very comfortanble as well and i used to use it all the time for chatting with freinds and still be able to move around the house.

They also work ok with PCs using the dongle thing.

The newer dual channel ones are in ear and not as comfortable.

If i'm honest, the article there has pretty much sold me on the Xbone. I'll probably start myself off by getting Live Gold back with GTA V, then getting a pre-order in for it. Hopefully OcUK don't sell out of pre-orders by October*! :)

*Student funds.. :p
