**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Glad I stuck with making the switch to playstation then I'll be surprised if it stays 720p on Xbox though unless it's incapable of of performing at 1080, xbox gang will be of in force now.

CBOAT stated that games using forward rendering are capable of 1080p (Forza uses this) vast majority of other games (that we know now are lower than 1080p)use deferred rendering, this is a problem for the XO.

All people talk about Forza 5 in 1080p and 60fps but I think Forza 5 use forward rendering. And if I I remeber correctly Timothy Lottes blog about PS4 and Xbox rant, he was thinking deffered rendering and 1080p on Xbox One will be difficult.

And many modern engine use deffered rendering partially or fully(KZ SF). Frosbite 3.0 is tiled deffered shading, Cry Engine 3.0 (partially deffered), UE 4.0 (tiled deffered shading). Far Cry 3 (deffered rendering), Watchdogs (deffered rendering???).

And if Forza 6 implements a cycle day/night, I think they will change the engine from Forward rendering to deffered rendering.

Tbh I wouldnt cancel my order on Ghosts being 720...its not like COD have ever been at the cutting edge of technology...the videos I've watched hardly look different to what i'd expect on the current gen.

Maybe next years installment
Exactly, CODs best on the Xbox platform, so if you want COD just get an XO!

Well Forza 5 isnt that great a technical accomplishment, to hit 1080p/60fps theyve had to leave quite a few tricks out...

ps3ud0

Same happened at last launch didn't it?

All 360 games were mandated to be 720p by MS. At launch they were all 720p, but a couple were found later to be something like 660p upscaled or something similar.

With all the money MS have thrown at Activision and the cloud power and exclusive DLC money, seems strange that it is only 720p (if true). I know 1080p is like 2x pixels of 720p, but like others, I'm baffled why they are hitting a some sort of limit already when the similarly specced PS4 is (allegedly) 1080p in the same game.

Ultimately COD, DR3, BF4 are all current gen games that are going to be close to 720p on current consoles. Hitting 1080p should be easy for the x1/ps4 versions.

I guess we will have to wait for one of those split screen videos that is on some sites that show side by side comparison. Maybe the PS4 has less effects, but better resolution or vice versa?

They think they're going to take the records GTA V made "back" from Rockstar :p or so they claim.
They probably will, with ease considering the amount of platforms Ghosts will be on and the people buying 2 copies this time round!

The PS4 isn't similarly speced in terms of power, only in terms of architecture, that's why the gap is there. There is 0 chance of PS4 having less of anything graphics wise than the XB1.

XB1 has two major issues here.

1. Weaker Hardware
2. More Complicated Hardware

Hmm, I did assume most games would be in 1080p, maybe it's time to cancel my preorder, that really is quite disappointing.

Wasnt BO2 a complete mess on PS3 network, input lag, bullet lag, terrible matchmaking etc? heard it needed several patches to get it working at all right and it still wasn't very good

Also...just a huge LOL at people concerned about how a COD games looks...of all the bloody games you pick THAT ONE to be your benchmark!?
More people pulling us back to the sad state of "graphics means better game play".

Why shouldn't be people concerned?

The PS4 appears to pull off 1080p 60FPS, yet rumours suggest the XO is 720p 60fps. It's not about it being a benchmark, more a, well if a CoD game can't do 1080p what chance is there of other games.

Or we wait and see some confirming it.

What is its programmers being lazy with a VERY OLD gaming engine they have been rehashing for how many years?

I'd be very surprised if they come out and confirm it.

I'm not sure programmers are lazy, just another product of:

A) Immature drivers/dev tools
B) Developing a game across too many plaforms
C) Just not enough time

Even going back to June, Mark Rubin said Ghosts was 1080p 60FPS on both consoles, but both still in severe development, they'd lose face coming out saying Ghosts is now 720p on XO due to tech difficulties they couldn't over come in the time available because people would be like, LolCoD same old **** rehashed, people aren't able to appreciate things like time to develop and stupid (self imposed) deadlines.

For me if they want to improve CoD they should merge IW & Treyarch together on the project and make a game every two years with a stimulus package of maps after 12 months (along with the standard quarterly/whatever map packs).

+1

It's not about COD. It could be FIFA and people would still be wondering why a big game with massive budget and a load of devs can do something on one console and not the other. With the amount of money MS have paid (for exclusive content for COD) I can't think the plan was to have it half the resolution of the PS4 version. Either the rumour is BS or they had some sort of issue with developing/coding etc.

If it's only 1 game it could be put down to lazy coders, if it happens more (or to very big cross platform titles) people should be concerned imo as it does not bode well for the future.

I don't recall a game having this much disparity between versions last gen (be it launch titles, mid cycle or recent).
