**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

For me if they want to improve CoD they should merge IW & Treyarch together on the project and make a game every two years with a stimulus package of maps after 12 months (along with the standard quarterly/whatever map packs).
Just no :p - move to a two year cycle and give each sets of devs 4 years to work with it, just enough time to build and maintain a bespoke engine and really showoff what COD is all about.

I don't think that's the point being made. While 720p and 30 FPS are OK, 1080p and 60 FPS are better. And considering that we're what, 7 years down the line, people want to feel like there's advancements being made.

As CoD isn't historically the best looking game in the world either it would seem disappointing that they can only get 720p / 30 FPS. Assuming of course that this is true :p.

The Darkness.

I know the graphics were different (less effects or worse effects on PS3), but I don't think one was 720p and the other was 1080p (It's possible though). Anyway, I think my point still stands, generally. I meant did we have any titles where one version was pushing double the amount of pixels as the other?

This should really be in the Ghosts thread :p I'll reply anyway.
I remember reading that Sledgehammer Games are working on a new COD game - maybe next years game - so it's possible that there are now 3 teams making COD and they'll have a 3 year cycle rate.

who mentioned fps like? is the rumour also suggesting that ghosts runs at 30fps on xbone and 60fps on ps4? first Ive heard of that one. Cod is pointless if its not 60 fps, resolution has always crap on cod anyway.

Clearly it depends on who you ask, as I assume you don't think so and I do.

I know I find 720p up scaled to 1080p on my 50" plasma that I sit fairly close to awful.

Even on my 40inch LCD there is a noticable difference in image quality and sharpness between 720p and 1080p.

Yes and 30fps is a ****ing slideshow.

Above.

No that isn't the rumour but I was giving my comment context from the nicely sarcastic comment above. :)

You're missing the point completely. It's not about what it was like previously it's about a game still being 720p on brand new hardware. The problem is that there's no evolution.

But we know that it is possible to hit those numbers on the XB1. So is it down to devs on short deadlines and the extra complexity of getting the most out of the esRAM? I'd say that's pretty likely and I think they'll get to grips with it over time.

Forward buffering and the like is what causes the issues if you believe what you read

If you squint your eyes, you probably won't see a huge difference, but it is looking like the difference to take it from 900 > 1080p or if this Ghosts rumour is true 720 > 1080.

No,

that's the theoretical difference. In practice it will be much less. Its like comparing a 1.8ghz chip to 3.6ghz. One is not 100% faster than the other in practice.

rp2000
That's true, although I suspect the extra difficulty with getting a game running with the XB1 memory setup will add some additional performance gaps until they work out how to use it more efficiently

Just saw the CBOAT reply to Albert Penello which gave momentum to this rumour - quite funny. TBH Im more likely to believe both COD versions arent 1080p/60fps than one is and the other is 720p/30fps-60fps - I dont have much faith in the abilities of the COD devlopers at all...
