**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

I'm buying both but the Xbox will still be my primary system for all titles.

I did on this generation due to blu-ray and exclusives like MGS4 & GT5, but the GT6 demo completely buried it for me. Metal Gear is on both now (blu-ray too), so I no longer will bother getting both platforms. Still, its getting closer.... :D:D:D

Why are people using the framerate for an excuse for thinking that 720p is acceptable in 2013?

Ghosts on PS4 runs at 1080p AND 60FPS.

I guess it's all just rumours right now, I will believe it when a credible source says something or there is any evidence.

Ghosts on 720p I don't think that's accurate, I'm pretty sure microsoft would definitely want it at 1080p like the ps4 especially when they market it as the console for COD.

I think its pretty certain now, as a lot of credible sources will never be listened to again if they turned out to be talking crap.

Because I'm willing to play games in 720p at 60fps. I don't care what other people think is acceptable. I'll take 30fps as long as its rock solid too.

I don't need a specific resolution to enjoy a game. I just need a frame rate without obvious dips.

I'd take smooth as hell frame rate in huge frantic gaming moments over some hard to tell better textured trees in the background.

I'm intrigued to see how good the up-scaling quality is. I'm assuming it's the console that will up-scale rather than let your TV do it?

I think it was always the console that did the upscaling as it technically would be said it was outputting at 1080p.

Quite frankly I'm astounded so many people think paying £430 for something that can mostly only do 720p in 2013 is acceptable.

With the power this thing has it should be priced less than the PS4, not £80 more, and Kinect isn't a valid excuse for that considering 90% of people don't need or want it.

If it was priced more sensibly I wouldn't think 720p was anywhere near as bad.

But it is there, so it is a valid excuse.

Depending on viewing distance from the screen the difference between 720p and 1080p can be negligible anyways.

I play in my living room, So my nose is hardly pressed up against the screen.

Because it's not mostly only 720p, that's just rumourmongering.

It's 80 more but you get a game worth 50 quid bundled, the kinect if you get a day one is only really costing 30-35 quid.

Couldn't agree more with this and exactly my points. There is no excuses for the xbox when the ps4 is cheaper and beating it not just in graphical form but from a developers stand point as well.

Yes 720p is acceptable but what isn't is when your main competitor can pull off higher resolutions while also offering a lower price point.

Microsoft really goofed up with this console, all the blunders and mistakes while them always being on the back foot is not worth nearly 450 quid.

I love the original xbox and 360 but I fear they wont recover from all this and might be the last console they manufacture.

Looking at the rumours it is the tools for developers that arent as mature as the PS4 tools, so in time the Xbox One games will be 1080p.

Either way, im not gonna cancel, as i've been looking forward to the launch for a while.

With all the money, power and tools at Microsofts disposal it shouldn't be too hard to get their API,tools or whatever working correctly.

They were in such a good position last generation due to all the dudebros and call of duty gamers seeing the 360 as the go to platform. You would think this would be something Microsoft would fight hard to hold onto. Instead they let their competitor have the best and definitive version.

Some of the reactions in here really are funny. "I'm not buying an underpowered console that can't even run games at 1080p". Actually, it can run games at 1080p. Forza, NBA 2K14 and Fifa 14 are all confirmed as 1080p and 60 FPS. Just because one particular developer is finding it easier to get the game running at 1080p on the PS4 doesn't mean the Xbox One isn't capable of doing the same. It just looks like it's going to take a bit more work. I find it really amusing how some people can't even see that.

The console is out in like what 3 and a bit weeks? I'm sure the final cod version is pretty much finished.

But where does the blame lie, is it Microsofts fault for not offering the support and tools to get one of the most important games looking and running just as well as it does on the PS4 or is it EA's fault?

I just sit and wonder what all these high brass execs must being pondering in their offices all day.

"definitive version" Of a yet to be released game on a console that isn't out yet .... might be just a tad too early to say don't you think?
