I wanted it to work with the console off for both scenarios. It's nice to have it available to snap to while gaming etc. but I also don't want to have to rely on the console being on e.g. if the GF wants to watch Sky she won't be interested in having to turn yet another gadget on.

Same boat here, there's no way my wife would go through the Xbox to get to her soaps. Passthrough is needed to be fair, hope it's patched in at a later date.

Ah yes of course, makes sense now. Yeah I imagine mine being exactly the same to be honest.

I love the fact that there's "Xbox Bing '____'".

The only thing I'll be doing with that is "Xbox Bing 'Google'".

Bing is a godawful excuse for a search engine.
 
The only benefit I could see with pass-through for sky was not having to change channel but it won't pass-through in standby so no go :(.

Tell me about it, i tried it quickly last night and i just said xbox bing google then from there i made my way to these fine forums and made a post on here via my Xbox 1 console...i hope they release a keyboard soon as it would make things easier to type out.

I had problems with mine at first, went back and ran the kinect settings again, on the volume check I turned my TV up really loud and seems to be working much better now. Also (can't figure out how to get rid) but I was making a mistake when on dashboard saying 'xbox' and the help panel would come up and it wouldn't register anything I said until I said xbox home...

Also say you want to load music or pins you need to tell it first to 'go to store' then 'go to music'.
 
I like how you can redeem codes now ( don't know if it was the same with the 360 kinect I never had one ). But just saying "Xbox use a code" and then hold up the barcode to the kinect, redeems in seconds.
