Should I be getting 5.1 surround sound with Forza 5?
When I go into settings display and sound. digital audio hdmi audio it say's stereo uncompressed. When I try and change the setting to 5.1 uncompressed. it keeps saying
"check you audio receiver. There was a problem using this setting. make sure you audio receiver supports it, Also make sure to choose at least one audio setting. Both cannot be off.

Use the controller then like the 360, but you should be able to just touch the front Xbox logo button to turn it on. No idea why yours would turn off again.
To be honest I had that the first time I tried. Ever since I first turned it off though, the controller has powered it on fine.
Are you set to fully off or quick boot in the power options?
Fully off.
Try enabling quick boot to see if it makes any difference.
Also check the LED. On the power brick. Orange is fully off, white means th console is turned on or in standby (quick boot) mode.
Or even leave it completely unplugged for 10 minutes.
How can I enable quick boot if I can't turn the console on?
Power brick LED is Orange.
Edit: It's on.........pressed the front of the console and then when it was white on the power brick, then I said xbox on and it worked....

I'd leave it unplugged for a bit, or try pressing and holding the power button on the console to see if that resets anything. I know if you hold it when turning it off, it fully shuts down even if you have instant boot enabled.
Yep. The controller guide light flashes.
If it's flashing it means the controller isn't synced to the console, which might be why it's not turning on when you turn the pad on.

Well it appears to be all be working, I changed the power options to instant on, the controller now turns it on and off, and also kinect works for off and on.
Must be some quirky way to turn it on when it's set to fully off, you must have to press the console button then say xbox on, as that worked first time for me.
