**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

So what are the bad points from the actual owners of an Xbox One?

Menu can be quite laggy at times when playing Ghosts go to view someone gamertag takes ages to load.

Interface i think could be better no notifications for when someone signs in to live just really bad i dont know someone is online until get invite.

No battery display

My main gripe really is the interface i think the 360 had it right with simplicity this seems to cluttered for me.

There a lot of stuff that needs rethinking with the UI but the foundation is there for a solid platform. Can be pleasing at times and infuriating at others, certainly will be improved along the way.

The shop is a bit of a joke right now, there's like 8 things in there (unless I'm doing something wrong)

Must say the UI sounds brought back some memories, such pleasing noise prompts.

All these graphics and resolution arguments.I got an Xbox one yesterday and in the same package I also had the new Zelda game. Xbox not been touched all day playing on a lowly handheld with low resolution but a fantastic game.
A console is only as good as what you play on it.

Have to agree with this, I still play Goldeneye on N64 from time to time and love it still.

has anybody managed to stream music or vids from the pc or laptop yet to the one i dont get the play to feature

do i need to turn on network sharing to enable it

has anyone tried video on a usb stick yet

i know its early but for a supposed and i quote ms " the only thing you will need under your tv "

it wont play mkv
sky tv not fully working
cant install music to it via usb
hardly any apps ( they have had long enough to do these come on )

so basically at the minute it is just a games console :(

sorry but if i was in charge i would have made sure we got the same as the americans or as close as

i would have also had some sort of deal with turtle beach where as a infra red extender was built into it to allow you to connect wireless headphones without the wires for the ir part.

Use skifta and your phone or tablet if your streaming from a nas. Plays my music and vids fine. But all my stuff is in mp4 cause everything I own plays them.

Haven't tested mkv cause it don't have any.

MS & Sky sorting things out will take time but I can wait.

Anyone experience any issues with crushed blacks evident with KI or in general?

My screens a Sony Bravia KDL50W656 - I'm using limited RGB, however tried all variants of settings between my TV and Xbone to try and ease the darkness to no joy. Strange thing is pressing the guide button to suspend the game, removes some sort of dark overlay and KI looks like what I'd expect.

I remember the 360 had the reference levels, standard, intermediate and expanded to help resolve this issue, just no sign of this now.

Maybe people don't notice it? Or maybe it's just me and my screen.

While playing Forza online- the picture is freezing up for a second. Anyone else getting this?

The headsets are pretty poor, you can hardly hear what people are saying.

There is a thread going on Neogaf about the overly aggressive scaler in the the One potentially over sharpening the edges and crushing the blacks of all the sub 1080P games it is scalling (KI being one of them).
Maybe this is what you are experiencing it seems that depending on their TV set-ups people are noticing it more or less.

Ah cheers, sounds like this'll be it! At least it's not just an isolated problem.

Edit - Had a good read, and it does sound like MS have majorly messed up here with the scaler, potentially crushed blacks for everyone outputting to 1080p, when a games running at 720p and upscaled. I'll have to try changing to 720p and testing again. Shame i'm at work. :p

I like the UI, very slick and the suspending/resuming of games and apps is fantastic. I have been using voice commands for most common stuff, switching apps, snapping etc, and its been flawless for me. But the GUI has one real flaw, and its navigating the menus by controller, there is just so many of them and it all seems a bit higgildy piggildy at the moment.

Obviously, the day after launch, the store won't have much ;)

Crushed blacks??

Stolen from Neogaf thread. I'd say most people won't even notice, sorry if you do now. :p
