**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

Look what forum you're posting that on. I'm not even going to waste my time discussing it further. I despair if they can't figure that out themselves.

You've not posted much in here for a while, you've come back and jumped straight into insulting someone. You're also carrying on bickering after being asked to stop by a Don.

I would say not wasting your time and moving on would be a good idea. :p

My concern is if I buy a game and my son wants to play it, on his Xbox One console in his room (for example) I need to pay twice?

Surely MS can use some kind of linking of accounts for families so paying twice isnt needed. Something similar to the Family Gold subscription maybe?
I think you can have local profiles that link to a single XBL account, I guess that would mean you and your son sharing a XBL account though, so dont know if that would work for you. Other than that, if there isnt further info on it, assume it works like how it work on the X360 I suppose.

Family Gold makes far more sense especially if theres people within that group that might want to digest TV only while others want to game - though I guess you could argue that people just watching it for TV dont need XBL accounts!

A joke needs to be funny tho, maybe I'm just getting old, but blabbering on about an XBone (when it's not even called that) just seems a little sad.

Oh look "Xbox One" can be abbreviated to "XBone" if you take some of the letters out! And that's funny because they showed a dog during the presentation! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahanahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!! :o

Chill dude, I didn't make the name up. It looks like the Xbox Ones abbreviation of choice by the masses is Xbone.

You are going to have to cry it out and deal with it.

It's MS's stupid fault for not realising that the Xbone name could become a thing.

This has turned into the gayest thread ever :p
Just remember, no mincing in front of the all seeing Kinect :D

Actually I think people are just getting a bit tired of a couple of posters continually trashing the thread any time anyone even tries to discuss the latest bit of news/leak etc. Discussion of plus and minus points is one thing, going on a crusade to try and trash every post about something that you have already said you have no interest in just get's a bit tedious. *shrug*

There's some really well informed and reasonable posters like ps3ud0 & Wannbedammed who although Xbox one isn't looking to be their thing bring interesting conversations about the next gen of consoles and add to the debate. Then there's a poster or two that are just a bit silly, juvenile and tedious.

Personally I'm not too worried about the emphasis so far with Xbox on the platform or concerned that "gaming is on the back burner". MS have already said graphically it'll be 8 times more powerful that 360 with 15 exclusives in the first year, 8 of them new IP along with x-platform titles like BF4 and Watchdogs which sounds a good start. They certainly seem to have misjudged the emphasis of the reveal though for gamers. PS4 may prove to be a little more powerful graphically but how that reflects in titles and actual on screen details who knows. I'd like to have seen the new Xbox capabilities like cloud compute married with PS4 DDR5 etc.

Although it's nice to see new hardware I'm a little tired of consoles being basically the same as the last gen but with prettier graphics and re releases of the same old titles. Up the gaming experience but add to the platform interests me this time. Actually the addition of more servers to Live hopefully allowing for dedicated servers for multiplayer supporting 64 users + etc is an interesting and oft overlooked plus for gaming for me.

I'm looking forward to E3 and seeing more about the gaming side from Xbox and more about the platform side from PlayStation.

Two good consoles can only be a good thing for console gaming as far as I can see, and given the X86 architecture both will be good for PC gaming.

Win all round for me, we just need more details.

My son and I have separate Xbox live accounts just now, but the current information suggests if I buy a Xbox One game and link to my account, my son couldnt take it upstairs and play on his Xbox One, on his profile.

Hope some kind of family linking is possible.

This is how I feel about it, I've pre-ordered the PS4 so far but have initially held out on the Xbox One (Would rather write it out full the write XBone!)

I'm hoping that MS come back strong at E3 with a decent amount of game content, if they do have a good E3 I will happily go and pre-order one of these too! :D

Sorry I mis-read your post for some reason, I think if your XBL profile is on his XO then there shouldnt be an issue him borrowing the game and vice versa. Im sure MS will have complete parental controls so he cant tinker with your account on his console though...

Yeah I can't see MS making you buy 2 of the same game when you have more than 1 console in the house.

It'll be interesting to see how this works and I'm assuming that azure cloud will be part of how it's implemented.

See what would be cool is a family and friends section where you can have say 5 other XBL accounts there where you can freely borrow games (maybe even bought downloaded media?) without having your XBL account on their console - it would be a neat way to deal with families as jamesy505 wondered and cover us guys that borrow games from mates from time to time. It doesnt infringe on the possible second-hand scheme and for most of us it clears up the kinda poignant points we really need answered to feel comfortable in getting that console.

If I was a parent I would be very easily annoyed if a platform owner made me have to pay more than once for a game just because my kid wants to play it on their account...

It'll be interesting to see if they use similar licensing to Office365 which allows Office to be installed onto 5 devices you own. The only fly in the ointment is going to be how you police that. Perhaps more emphasis as you say on a Live family account allowing a game to be played on any of the 5 account or Xboxes tied to them? Try to install number 6 and it's blocked until you uninstall from one of the other Xboxes.?

Why should families be allowed special dispensation? If I live in a house with 3 friends should we only be allowed to buy one copy and share it amongst us? When I was young....I got my own games.

Agree with both of you on this I would think that unlike office though it may be limited to 2 or 3 XBL accounts, I can't see them allowing anymore than that though! :(

I was thinking this. I mean I get that it's a pain, and I know for a fact I've lent and borrowed games.

But I'm sure Terms and Conditions will be on the side of Microsoft\Sony. I'm pretty sure a game\movie is for personal use only.

Although my Google Fu has stopped me finding a specific part of any of their T&C

Microsoft/Sony may not have to implement anything atall for sharing games. (If I'm right)

To me its normal to lend out games, movies etc for many, many years over different formats and platforms. Its what I expect to be able to do and if a platform tried to stop me doing that, then its not unsurprising that Id be vocal and vote with my wallet.

I just dont think my personal experience will differ that much from many. I may not be able to morally justify what Ive done in the past, but to me it wasnt a big thing to do in the first place. I guess this goes down the road of what you license compared to what you own though, not a discussion to be had here...

I can understand why MS is looking to do this and I honestly think if Sony haven't implemented something like this in the PS4 they may well do now. And to a certain extent I can justify it, more money to developers means more money for them to develop, so it could help out.

I would love to swap games with friends, but historically my wallet shows that I am willing to buy just about anything brand new! :p

It'll be difficult to justify to publishers why Xbox (or PS4) specifically allows sharing of games to 2 or 3 other "family members" as publishers will regard that rightly or wrongly as lost revenue.

It's one thing to have no really way of stopping it, it's something altogether different to actually permit as a feature. AAs Shamikebab says, why should there be a differentiation between me giving my son a free copy of a game and giving a copy to a mate.

Tricky... Perhaps a good opportunity with new technology and platform though for MS and the publishers to take this whole DRM things by the horns and come up with a good way of allowing limited legal sharing that is a good compromise for both games publishers and gamers?

That just the same as a Blu-Ray/DVD flim or a music CD, you bought it and should be allowed to share it endlessly as long as you are not copying it.

Games makers make enough money as it is, look as COD revenue... and they wont even shell out for dedicated servers.. Tight arses

They seem more focused on money making than game making these days.
