**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

[/INDENT]Both companies have confirmed you will be able to sell and buy pre owned games. To be fair what they haven't qualified is if there will be charges or activation codes needed. The rumours go from "Full msrp" to "free but it will enforce a deactivation of the previous owners copy".

Agreed, and Sony with the PS Vita are already making games tied to an account but I never heard much backlash against that. If I lend a PS Vita game to a mate it wipes the game data that I had saved, there is no cost involved but it's following the same sort of lines as the home consoles might be taking.

Man I must be one of those few wierdos that will wait a fair few months until theres at least more than a trickle of games available before I decide when to get the console. I just dont see the attraction of being the first person to get a new gadget then have next to nothing to play on it and then end up moaning how poor the launch titles or general support was post release...

Plenty to tide me over on the current consoles thank you very much :p

ps3ud0

You make it sound like current consoles will cease to operate if you buy a new one :D

If you are allowed to play pre owned games but then have to pay full RRP for it to activate it, you in fact haven't bought a game at all just a copy of the files, but not the license to play it.

Its this part that they are being coy about. Its all very well saying yes you can play a used game, but this is useless if you still have to pay full price for a license to use it.

I'll be waiting til next year(probably spring time) before getting a new console. Unless all of my XBL friends suddenly jump ship.

Which is where MS and Sony will have problems in the EU as the EU will tell them they can't do that.

MS 'working to address' Xbox One DRM concerns source
"We're fully aware of what is going on. I am also working on a few things to address it. I can't say much more right now. But we ARE listening."

Looks like they may be forced to back peddle after they've seen the anger this whole thing has caused. Or maybe they were just testing the water to see what the consumers would think.

they're hardly back peddling considering that they haven't really announced anything and 90% of what's being written is speculation to get website hits.

and £89.99 per game LOL, surely its a guesstimate and a bad one at that. Not a chance would i pay that.

They aren't attempting to guess the prices, they are just listing them as higher than they will ever be so that they don't take a hit if the console/games are actually cheaper than what they set the pre-order price to be.

Really can't understand that people aren't getting this!? ;)

Which to be fair is why I think the full price bit is BS, what would be the point?

Indirectly kills second hand games market and puts retailers in their place - why I thought its a great idea and gets around EU constraints...
