I think the main problem with the X1 is all the extra resources that are needed by the other parts of the console. The Windows OS spin-off as an example. This decreases the RAM that is available even more.
Saying all this though. The X1, to me, looks far more interesting than the PS4.
I chose my PS3 over the 360 because it was more of an all around media device and the 360 seemed to be just a core gaming device.
Next gen seems to of switched roles. The X1 being more media centric while the PS4 is focusing on games. This is why I'm finding more interest in the X1 at the moment.
EDIT: Sorry, as I'm sure this question has been asked thousands of times. But has it been 100% confirmed that the X1 can use an external hard drive? I ask because at the moment I have a HTPC and I'm thinking I could just move all my TV shows and Movies to an external HDD and plug it straight into the X1. Also I'm going to say that it's safe to assume that the X1 nor the PS3 support MKV playback, just MP4?
